Molyneux and co's scintillating self-styled RPG - new screens!

As X03 fizzles out with an abundance of screenshots but not a lot in the way of revelations, at least a new set of Fable shots have arrived. If you don't know much about this one, ambitious doesn't really cover it - an RPG that lets you steer your hero from early childhood to the heroic grandeur (or pitiful regret) of old age is, we think you'll agree, quite a novelty.

Brit gaming legend Pete Molyneux is part of the team behind the game (as developer Big Blue Box is probably sick of hearing - it's making the thing!), and Fable should be out in early 2004, although we wouldn't bat an eyelid if further slippages occur.

Interesting to see the close-ups of the NPC's. Altogether, nice screens.

Too bad we're not hearing more 'revelations', but any info on Fable is good IMO whether it's new screens or behind-the-scenes info.

Man, I wish I enjoyed RPGs. It's cool to see all you dudes excited about this game. I just can't even get remotely pumped up for this...no in the least. I guess I'm an action whore...

OMG, that has to be HD. Those shots rival all but the few top PC games.

That is incredible. I never thought I'd see a game look that good on a console. If, in fact, that is what the final product will look like in HDTV.

And to think the game could even look better when it finally comes out.

Keep in mind that the original Halo is said to only use 40% of the XBox's graphical capabilities. It just goes to show how powerful the green and black truly is

Max, I was the same way. Still am, hate RPG's. I think they are boring. But that is exactly the people that Big Blue is developing this game for, the people like you and me that can't get into an RPG game. They told us personally, and I told them right back that they are succeding. Once you see this thing in action I think you may end up getting excited about it. I know I did.

I went into the room with 0% excitement. Left with 110%.


As for HD support (which the screens are) they said they were looking into it but most likely it won't be. Hope they change their minds.

Unplayable framerates for one.

The xbox is powerful, but apparently not that powerful. On some games though they could have easily made it HD capable.

I saw the 5 minute video with gameplay and the combat looks really good. Just like an action game and nothing like the stale Morrowind combat that made me quit the game.

Watch the video, the combat looks really cool. A bit like cobat in Enclave, but better.
