if you cant play a CD-R i really doubt you could play a DVD-R. So my guess is...no. Unless we talked about illegal stuff, but I dont know anything about that, and im not getting myself banned.

I play dvd+r in my launch xbox all the time. I have read that -r works also.

I can't remember for sure but I have -R disc at home that I believe have worked.
