If i can pick up a DVD drive ( Samsung ) that has been flashed off the net somewhere for like $100 Canadian would it be worth my while ? And are they hard to install ?

No offense, Ben, but talk of modding of any sort is strictly taboo at XBA. Don't expect this thread to be around for long.
Just the way it is, man.

I live on Thompson Drive. Really
Put your hand on a hot stove for a min. and it feels like an hour; play a cool game for an hour and it feels like a min. Brevity's def. of relativity.

This thread isn't really about "modding" his xbox, just tryin to fix his problem by himself rather then going out, buying a new DVD drive($100), then spending about $20-40 gettin som1 else to fix it for him. You really ONLY need to change the DVD Drive if it has died out on u.. Thomson drive dont preform any different to the phillips and samsung drives, so there is no sense changin it if it's not broken. Anyways, if u are gonna change it, just buy a new xbox.. $100, and $$ to get som1 to repair would cost alot.. You can get a BRAND new xbox /w a warranty for ONLY $269.99! (sorry for sounding like a XBOX salesman!)

I'm glad to hear that Thompson drives aren't defective in any way. But after some problems with Morrowind, KotOR, and RS3 (airforce 1 map), I'm beginning to have my doubts.
