Default Desktop Theater and XBOX Q's

Hi, I hope to you guys may be able to help me out in setting up my DTT2500 and an XBOX to experience gaming in Dolby digital surround sound.

I want to set the Desktop Theater Digital DTT2500 (not the playworks) http://csw.creative.com/products/dtt2500/ speaker package up for use with my xbox but the question is how? There is no optical connection on the receiver and I was told I could buy an RCA to optical converter and this would work...

Here’s what I was told to do...
Buy the advanced AV pack for the XBOX (which has an optical output), an optical to RCA converter box, and an optical cable, which I did. I ran the optical cable from the XBOX AV pack to the RCA\Optical converter, connected a 2 to 1 RCA splitter (Y adaptor) to the 2 AV connections on the other end of the converter box and attached the male RCA (coaxial) cable from that to the back of my desktop theater in the AC3 digital output connection. I set the sound to Dolby digital in the audio settings for the XBOX and.... NOTHING. Is there perhaps a problem with the converter box? Is that the correct one to use? ( I bought it from Radio Shack) http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...uct_id=15-1242 Can someone recommend one for me to purchase that will work?

I know creative has a later model of the desktop theater speaker package DTT3500 with an optical connection, but I’d prefer not to shell out an addition $300+ on a speaker package nearly identical to the on I have.

Any suggestions tips or whatever to rig this setup is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

That converter box won't do you any good. That converts analog audio to digital audio.

You want an optical to coaxial converter.

Hell naw, I got this RCA VMAx Boom Box for Xmas that has surround sound. I thought that since it has SS that I can somehow hook my Xbox up to the RCA VMAx and get surround sound. I guess I was wrong.

Hugh, I think you are correct sir!

I'll have to find an optical to coaxial converter, I knew something something wasn't right when it said analog to digital, when both are infact digital connections.... Thanks
