I am stuck on Halo

I am on Level: Assault on the control room

My Mission objective: Reach the transition to the second Chasm

I just wiped out all the opposition and am at the mouth of a giant cave. The door will not open. Where am I to go now? Any help, or a Halo Help link would be much appreciated.

There should be a little contol panel no the wall to the left side of the door on which you have to press X to open. Does this help any?
