I haven't been here a while, but I know this is one of the top fansites and prob. has the best members I've come across in a forum (err...for the most part). So I have to voice my concern here.
Shadow Ops: Red Mecury set to be released in 2-3 weeks looks absolutely amazing. The graphics are amazing, the story looks breathtaking, and the mashing of realism and movie thrills looks stunning. Originally I saw only 8 player for XBL but now it's at 16 from a couple sites (Videogames.com being one of them).
My problem is, I've seen no posts or anticipation for this title. The only concern I have with this is no games or a severe lack of games on XBL. I rented Top Spin, wanted to play a doubles game online, but there were 0 games (as were a couple other XBL titles I rented). So I'm hoping with this thread you will at least rent it and if you like it, spread it on to your other friends. I'd like to log-in to XBL and see tons of rooms and not be forced to join a lagged filled room.
So here's an overview of the game and decide if this may or may not be your cup of tea. If it is, at least rent it. I'm getting tired of playing RS3 to get my FPS fix, I'd like this to be my new FPS fix till Halo 2. I think everyone agrees we need a game to help pass time until it's release. Onto the overview:
Single Player: 24-26 mission campaign revolving around the fathomed Red Mercury. Game starts off with the bomb exploding causing mass destruction. The game then start 3 days before the explosion and you must stop it from going off. The storyline looks incredible. The cinematics and script have a hollywood feel to it while the combat and movement have realism written all over it.
Multiplayer:
Split-Screen - 2 player co-op with 10 original missions seperate from the single player campaign. I don't know if this is final, but in one of those Making of Videos they had a game that was 4 player split screen so 4 player team modes might be in as well.
System Link/XBL Both feature a 16 player max (the number has changed from 8, to 12, and most recently 16 according to Gamespot.com) with modes including:
-Plant/Defuse the Bomb
-Escort the Hostage(s)
-VIP
-CTF
-DM and TDM
-Plus 1 other unnamed mode
The game is built on the latest Unreal engine so the graphics are amazing and most likely will have some sort of ragdoll effects.
Check out
www.atari.com/shadowops/ . There's not much to do there but it gives a bit more info. If you need gameplay footage check out IGN, they have a little and Gamespot has bit though they have this stupid downloader thing you need before getting any videos.
So is anyone gonna give it a look now?
