Default Questions about High Def ?

After I set the high def settings from my xbox dashboard, do the games that support 480p automatically recognize the settings or are there additional settings within the games that have to be set.

    Thanks mOnK

The games will automatically switch to the highest setting they support and what your TV supports...

So if you enabled 480p,720p and 1080i and your game supports 720p the game will play in 720p...

Some games won't work if you have them all enabled. For example, try putting Amped 2 when 720p and 1080i are enabled...of course, 480p is on as well. You will only get a black screen.

Same thing with Soul Caliber 2.

Those are the only two that I know of.

I haven't heard of that problem Max. I have them all enabled and I don't have a problem with Soul Caliber 2. It plays at 720p. I have to go in and disable 720p if I want to play on my rear projection HDTV which doesn't support 720p. Don't own Amped 2.

Maybe its dependant on the television, because when I put my non-HDTV on 480p (actually the Xbox on 480p) it gives a black screen, so maybe the Xbox is putting out a source the TV can't handle.

Not really sure though as I don't have HDTV yet.

Once DLP is cheaper its all mine. MMMMAWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

No way I'm settling for a big screen projection that doesn't do 720p.

    Here's a real question. Those inexpensive HDTV's that say 1080i on them, does that mean they support 1080i, & 480i only? or is it 1080i, 720p, 480i, & 480p?

I just purchased the samsung 30" widescreen with DVI hook up for dvds or cable, i paid 750.00 and only supports 480i 480p and 1080i, i found out last night that it does not support 720p while reading the manual. Why they left out 720p is beyond me? maybe that's why i paid 750.00. But it's a beautiful picture. Make sure you get a tv with DVI hook up.

hmm...maybe my HDTV doesn't support 720p?! I haven't tried using it yet...and that Soul Caliber game I was referring to was on my friend's HDTV. I don't own the game, but, he does. But, I do own Amped 2 and for some reason, if I have 480p, 720p, and 1080i on "Yes" on my XBox dashboard, the game is blank. However, if I turn 720p and 1080i on no, it works great.

Honestly, it's the only game that I can absolutely confirm that it does that...atleast on my HDTV. No other game does...it's kinda wierd.

My Panasonic 47" HDTV Widescreen only supports 480i, 480p and 1080p..no 720p. I don't know why they leave that one out, wish I had it. At the first of the year when tax season comes around again, I am going to get me a 32" HDTV Flat Screen tv and I am going to make sure it has all of them before I purchase it. Have always been afraid of burn-in on my rear projection tv that I have it hooked up too right now. So, that's why I am going to get the other tv.
