My Setup (you can do it differently i.e. wireless) You need.

1 Router
1 Cable Modem/Connection
3 Ethernet Cables

Pretty much it. Just a connection to your room via Wireless or Ethernet Cable. And No, a wiress connector is not included with Xbox Live Starter Kit, I think it's like $30 extra.

it's a lot more than 30 bucks.
