Post your early Game of the Year contenders

I know its still very early, but I think Jade Empire has a great shot at GotY.

Whats your early GotY prediction (I guess on any system)?

I bet it will be Madden 2006 (or atleast sports game of the year).. because we all know how great of a game it is!

I only played the demo of Jade Empire, and I didn't care much for it, I am extemely surprised at all the reviews and what the gamers say about the game. So just from hearing about it, yeah I think it does have a shot at it.

I hope Forza Motorsports will be good enough to be considered for the award.

Resident Evil 4, guys, remember that game? Definitely top contender for GOTY across all consoles. Jade I'd put second, but the fact they're calling it an RPG boggles my mind. It's more like Fable, but w/ dialogue options.

I honestly think that if the new Zelda lives up to it's predecessors, it will no doubt take the title of GOTY. But Forza and Conker are still coming, and both look like they'll be pretty rock solid, on and offline.

So, my vote goes to either Zelda or RE4 as GOTY.

I'd agree with RE4 and Zelda, but Zelda would only be on name alone. People give the Zelda series way too much credit because of its history. I'd put the first Zelda and OoT in my top 10 of all time list, but WW just wasn't good enough to be a GotY. It was very good like a Mario or other classic 1st party Nintendo game, but it was nothing that made me say "WOW!" This next Zelda may be different, but if it maintains the stale combat and typical game mechanics it will just get GotY considerations because of the name/history.


I hope the next one is as revolutionary as the move to N64 was.

Didn't Madden decide to take a year off to improve drastically? I remember reading something about Madden 2007 being the next title, with a completely revamped game engine.

I would say Jade Empire for Xbox contender, but we have a few games from the other guys that are going to make a run at it, RE4 on the Cube and God of War on PS2.
