Default Are the new maps worth it?

I haven't bought the new maps yet, so I was wondering if they were worth it. I've haven't noticed a swell of Halo 2 activity on my friends list like there was when the first four maps were released, so I figured I wasn't the only one who wasn't chomping at the bit to play the new maps. I'm actually having a crap load of fun playing the one level demo of Battlefield, but my live expires next week and I can't decide if I should just wait for the 360 or another great online game to renew it.

No they are most definetnley not, wait till they're free. And if you don't get another account just skip on them.

Thanks for the earnest sumation. I had doubts they'd be worth the fifty bones I'd need to spend to renew my account. I'll just wait for Battlefront or Battlefield before I do that.

dont listen to m4, he hates EVERYTHING halo2.

personally, i think it is up to you. i cant tell you what you are going to like and what you arent. different ppl have different opinions on the new maps. it depends on how many ppl on your bud list have the new maps and how bored you are with the current maps.

No. I think halo 2 is actually pretty fun, i just like to play mlg customs. However these new maps are all too big IMO. This is why i say they aren't worth it. Hell if they were 5 dollars they'd be worth it.

All too big? Elongation is one of the smallest maps in the game..... same with Backwash, it's just really foggy. Gemini = perfect for 4v4 MLG.

The new maps are sweet, they are worth the 10 bucks you pay for them, but in your case you will have to spend like 60, so im not sure.

If only the map wasnt crowded and maybe longer
If you dont regularly play halo 2 dont buy the maps because 3/5 suck. But those 2 good maps will get enough play time to make up for the cost if you play halo 2 alot.

Okay so elongation is small but has terrible layout. Backwash, now starting nades, WTF!? And gemini is indeed fun.

Yes I know Xorg, Peyrok and I tryed to chuck nades from base to base and the trees seem to block almost every nade.

The no grenades part really has to have been for performance issues. When a few start blowing up, I have had some pretty bad framerates. I would still have liked the option though.

Gemini and Elongation are good though. Backwash might have been good with the grenades. Relic is terrible and Terminal is fun for messing around.

Hmmm, I think these opinions are premature. I believe that Backwash will be the best of the new bunch once it finds it's way into matchmaking. So you don't start with nades, big deal, there's nades all over the map, learn where they are. Once people really get the layout for backwash down I think it'll rock faces.

Relic...I'm going to go out on a really long thin limb here: I believe that Relic is the heir apparent to Blood Gulch. Once we all start playing 1 flag in matchmaking with good connections from match made hosts we will see the maps true genius emerge. It will also be incredible for snipers.

Terminal...I really want to like this map, but to be honest, until I get a 16 player game on it and can feel how it playes out it's hard to say. But I do agree it's a blast to screw around on.

Gemini...Funny, the map everyone likes is the one I think will grow old the fastest. I mean, it's 2 levels with a jump and a hallway and a teleporter or 2, there's not much to it. Great for a rena style slayer matches but beyond that I think it's really limited. However, I don't know what the CTF or assault variants are so there could be more undiscovered good ness. Real pretty map.

Elongation...I love it. It's chaotic, there's 6 million ways to go, the boxes keep it unpredictabl cause you can't just camp and entry point, cause they're always changing! Anyhoo, I can totally understand how some would feel it's too small, but I enjoy it and believe it will be hugely popular once we wrap our heads around it. Oh yeah, it's totally not Longest anymore other than a mild inspiration for it.

I think that they are worth it. I think they just add to the phenom that Halo has become. The best is backwash, the worse is gemini. I can't see a damn thing in there.

backwash good for MM? are you serious? the map is littered with duel wields and is small as hell. there's only 2 rifles on the map, and there's even a sword.
no starting nades and smg start = a duel wielding noob's paradise...but maybe that's what you like
starting with an smg is bad enough, let alone no nades.

relic is really the only 'limited' map, because it's only good for 1 flag. snipers is OK.
the teleporter doesn't work right so that's kinda anoying.
i'd like to know what you think is so genius about this map, though...because i don't see it.

koth is decent on gemini. i played a game of teamball there that didn't seem too bad either.

Relic - Terrible map, really. Snipers @ Relic is nothing special. I like sanctuary and blood gulch snipers better. With the broken portals, someone ALWAYS has to be watching it. grrreeeatttt. Not only that, but it's terrible online sniping.

Terminal - Great LOOKING map, but thats about it. The coolest thing about it is the trains.

Gemini - Terrible for KOTH. Confusing as **** to me for some reason [only played 3 games or so on it]. Nothing special really, i like camping the top portal places.

Elongation - The best map of the bunch. Great for CTF and Slayer. Makes brute shot usable.

Backwash - I like Backwash overall, but there are a few things i question. First, in my experiences, it seems like the host can see people through the fog before the non host can. Just by a slight bit, but with a 1 shot lead, it makes a big difference... Oh, that's right, you all like the smg, well, nevermind, you can catch up in that battle by using your leet jumps and keeping your jupiters-ring sized aimer on their knee. No starting nades? woowwww.

MLG KOTH is good on Gemini. It's pretty equal. And the one KOTH game I did on it, my team (Soundscape was there too i think), we made a nice comeback. It seemed pretty fair but given a good team, there could be a lockdown.

I haven't played a single new map in Team Preview. Are they incorporated into that matchmaking playlist? After two hours, I still didn't get a new map...just the old "new" ones (Sanctuary and Warlock).

Obviously, if you like MLG customs, you can play them, though, I haven't played MLG customs on the new maps yet. I have been out on business.
