Japanese Console

I have just bought the Japanese Xbox 360 in Hong Kong.All the games i have COD2 and criminal originds are in english.The sales asssitant told me that the games on the 360 can be used on any console Japanese/european/US.
Can anyone confirm this.I am thinking about getting some games sent over from the uk.PGR3 and need for speed etc.Please advise.

As far as I know the games are region coded.
Pal for Europe, and NTSE for the US I believe.

can PAL play with NTSC on xbox live? if so, why not just get a japanese and import games from UK?

Yeah I have read many "rumors" that the japanese version can play both PAL and NTSC. Not sure what the benefit of this format would be. Would love if someone could find some concrete evidence as to whether this is actually the case or not.

just checked with my guy in Hong Kong...yes the japanese console that i have bought will support both PAL and NTSC formats......RESULT!!!
