Default How you make your easy money in Oblivion without cheating

I have about 1,200 gold and I'm saving up for the mansion in Skingrad. I need some more money and I just wanted to know what you guys do to get your money.

I did the arena and I'm the Grand Champion and I come back from time to time to fight animals and I'm very involved in the thieves guild and I have nice fences.

I pick pocket people all of the time to get some more money but it just seems really hard to make enough for the mansion.

So what do you guys do?

caves and forts. Plus I am currently working on a quest(cant think of the name right now) but it involves me finding more ayelid statues for a collector in Imperial City. He is gonna pay me 500 gold per statue. I am currently level 12 and g;ass armor and weapons are now dropping from marauders they also bring good money.
    Thanks Nazareth

pillaging towns is fun but will increase your bounty and infamy alot.

i sometimes use the dupe glitche to get a lil extra something out of my items.

If your character is at a high level and you look in the right places you can find enemys with good armor or weapons.Such as ebony glass daedric and so on,or if you find people in towns with good weapons or armor then make them atack you and,if you can, bash them across the head.

At higher levels, your loot from a random dead bandit in a dungeon goes WAAAYY up--so much so that you'll get nice glass and daedric weapons that have values in the thousands. The problem then becomes finding vendors willing to shell out more than about 800 gold for any one item.

Easy way which works at even the lowest levels: join the mages guild, then grab and pawn off all of the alchemical equipment from the various guild halls.

You can also loot farms and such for ingredients, then make and sell the 'cure fatigue' potions this creates, or even buy the cheaper ingredients from the merchants and sell the resulting potions back at a profit. The area west of skingrad, farms and surrounding terrain, are excellent for ingredient collection.

Get your alchemy up a bit and you can really make some money doing this.

    Alchemy, Alchemy, Alchemy
    brew, brew, brew
    Reap, Reap, Reap

Even if you don't want to go out and search for ingredients which can be tedious if you're in a result oriented mind frame, you can buy ingredients from merchants.

Buy food, ingredients, and brew potions

The potions will bring in more money than the sum of their ingredients.

    Apple 2 gold
    Bread 2 gold
brew restore fatigue potion sell for 14

    you get the idea

Also, if you become a master of mercantile you "invest" in stores...basically you give them 500 gold and it raises their available money by 500

    Thumbs up Without cheating?

    • Ummm....well, you can do the quest "The Collector" in the Imperial City. To start that, find an Ayleid statue (in ruins: Culotte, Fanacas, Mackamentain, Moranda, Ninendava, Vilverin, Welke, Wendelbek, Wendir, & Wenyandawik). After you possess the statue, sell it to a merchant preferably in the Imperial City, and within the next two days, a man named Jollring will approach you. He will bring you to Umbacano (his master), and after ou complete the whole quest, you will have accumulated 10,000 gold.

    • Also, just join the Mages' Guild. In every guild hall, there are free crystal balls, ingredients, potions, alembics, calcinators, and other stuff that you can sell to the people in the guild hall. I ended up making 1500 gold of of two guild halls!

    • If you want to be successful in the game, don't make your infamy too high. Only do the first quest of the Theives' Guild, and sell your stolen items to the first fence.

    • Try to go to ruins and forts. They have some pretty valuable items, depending on your level. Then, just sell them in stores.

    • Well alchemy is a big one. If you are a novice in Alchemy, you can by an apple + a bread loaf for only 4 gold. You brew them together, and they average around 14 gold worth. That's 10 gold profit a pop!

Also, the Skingrad Manor costs 25,000 gold for just the house and a bed. If you want the full furnishings (the balcony, the decorations, the display cases, bookshelves, food, and other good stuff, it will cost around 49,000 gold. Plus 150 gold for the servant.

I would buy the Benirus Manor in Anvil... 5,000 for a cool quest and a huge house with lots of cabinets to put stuff in.

Early on in the game, it is kind of hard to make a lot of money... you just have to keep saving, and sell everything you pick up out of dungeons. I would simply suggest take a few hours and do nothing but plunder caves, mines, forts, and Aylied ruins. Also, make sure to do the persuade minigame with the armorers and traders to maximize resale value.

I have over 300,000 saved up right now, and I am not really spending any money because i use Transcendent Sigil Stones to enchant all my stuff, I can repair all my own weapons, and since I am going after Oblivion gates, I basically find an unlimited supply of Daedric armor and weapons to sell.

    edit

Also, a good early quest to make money is "The Collector". As soon as you exit the prison sewers, you will see the Ayleid ruin of Vilverin. Go inside, and you should find an Ayleid Statue, worth 250 gp. Sell it, then sleep for a day or two, and go about your business. You should be contacted by Umbacano's butler, who tells you to come see his master in the Talos Plaza District of the Imperial City. Umbacano will give you 500 for each statue (there are ten total), and I received 5500 after giviing him all ten. If you want the names and locations of the ruins they are located at, just pm me.

Yes, this is true, but you have to be a certain level to obtain the Daedric artifact (20, I think?), and by that time you should be rolling in dough.

    Default no level up??

I understand all these ways to make money and I know i'm pretty much starting a whole other confersation but I've been playing Oblivion for 2 and a half months and I'm still the lowest level in the entire game. I don't understand why I haven't leveled up yet. Please explain to me.

You have to improve your main skills (the ones that pertain to your character class), that is the only way to level up.

Either perform actions that use your skills (as in using a sword if blade is one of your primary skills, or shooting a bow for marksman, or using flare for destruction), or train your main skills (5 per level) until you get the magic icon next to your compass.

Also, you might already be there, you just have to rest and meditate to gain the new level... find a bed roll and sleep.
