Guidance Please: XBOX vs. 360 Controller?

Sorry if this is a questions that's been answered before. Can anyone tell me if the right and left bumpers on the 360 controller map to the black and white buttons on the original XBOX controller? Especially when playing the original XBOX games on the 360 console? I'm trying to use a code that requires white and black buttons and have been unsuccessful. Thanks so much for any help you provide.

Thanks for the info, looks like they still don't really map that way though at least for the original Max Payne. Either that or the cheat codes were wrong. Thanks again.
