Default xbox does not read any disc..

I took the cd-rom drive out and cleaned it all up .When you put in a game or anything it barely spins then stops and you get error message saying cannot read.....Any suggestions??

Taking the drive out was your biggest mistake, any warranty you had is no longer valid. Now, it may be possible to fix, but you'll need too talk to someone else about that. (not my forte)

On a happier note, welcome to the Asylum!

This is the same thing that happened to me... Either buy a new, used xbox or just level up and get 360... I ended up owning three xbox's because of this stupid problem...

Well, I'd never do that, but sometimes I leave my Xbox on all night, either with music or a movie playing. (I do this because it helps me sleep) Hopefull this won't be a serious problem when I get a 360.
