If an HD Drive is released for the 360 for...say, $200 [not an official price], would you buy one?

Sadly enough, I don't even own a 360 yet. If I did though, I don't think I'd invest in one of these.
Thats a good point man..Originally Posted by pjh13

I play games, not watch movies. I can't watch a movie knowing I could be playing a game instead. I like to be in the story not watch a story.![]()
As for now, i seriously dont need one. I have a killer dvd library and a dvd changer(less than a year old). So why upgrade. My 360 is serving its purpose by being a gaming system, and thats why i bought it.
I would.. but Bluray has so many more companies backing it.. feels like there is no point
I used to post here a lot.
No, nor am I interested in Blu-ray. I've no intention of supporting anything loaded with DRM. When I buy things, I like to own them and do whatever I please with them. If I buy an HD-DVD drive, it will be for my PC, and it will be used primarily for data storage.

hi!
It depends. The reason why I say that is becasue if I have a HDTV and the format of HD-DVD wins then yes I will, but I do not want to be stuck with a BetaMax (is the other format that was up against VHS and lost).
Nope. I have no need for HD-DVD at this time nor in the near future.
I prefer to think of the whole high definition optical disc push more like a dual redo of Laserdisc (which, coincidentally, offered higher quality video than VHS, but with few other perks and a much higher price tag...). At least the VHS/Betamax war was pretty much guaranteed to actually have a winner.Originally Posted by Batman_wanna_be
I wouldnt. Theres really no plus except for watchin movies and I already dont do that. Theyre never gonna release an HD-DVD game, that would piss off everyone who might want to play it but doesnt want to shell out $200.
$100 or less, i might consider it and it has to be internal. if it costs $100 or more , i think i'll buy PS3. xbox360 seems to be more expensive than PS3 if you add HD-DVD in. What a joke.
Honestly, I think the XBox 360 is too loud - sure, my audio system drowns out the noise, but, movies often have slow scenes and I don't feel like battling the audio with the fan noise. Besides, I wouldn't want to put more unecessary wear and tear on my XBox 360 when all I would have to do is purchase an HD-DVD player.
I'm also assuming that HD-DVD players will play regular DVD movies - unlike Blu-Ray.
Not only can all HD-DVD players read DVDs, but HD-DVD itself is up to 3 layers now, meaning a single side of a single disc can store a full HD-DVD movie (30GB) and a DVD layer, or all 3 HD layers at 45GB.Originally Posted by l Maximus l
I honestly feel it's the better designed format, and hope that if either wins out, it's HD-DVD.
No reason for me to get one and it'd be way too expensive so no.
