Sad Something really weird happened today. Please help!

Please forgive me if somebody has already posted about this issue before. I tried searching for it but couldn't find anything. So this is what happened. I put in The Simpsons Game and loaded up my save file. As soon as the level loaded my 360 locked up. I turned it off and when I turned it back on I got the 3 red rings of light. I turned it off and on again a few more times and got the red rings each time. I thought my 360 was dead so I took out my game and just to be sure I tried to turn it on one more time. This time it was fine. OK! So I put my game back in, loaded it up, and once again it locked up giving me the red rings. I tried multiple times to get turn it back on with the game disc still in and it wouldn't work. Sometimes I got the red rings and sometimes I got no lights and the system wouldn't recognize my controller. I took out the game disc and just like magic my 360 booted back up. I decided to try a different game to see what would happen. Everything worked fine. I put the Simpsons back in and that worked fine except for the fact that my save file is gone! I was like somewhere around 75% done with the game and now it is all gone! Where has my save gone and why did I keep getting the red rings and why does it all of a sudden work again? I am afraid to play other games now because I don't want to lose those saves as well. I tried calling the support 1-800 number and after about 20 minutes on hold I got somebody but I got frustrated due to the language barrier and hung up. Has anybody ever even heard of this happening before? Is my 360 on its last leg or maybe my hard drive is going bad? If for some reason the game was trying to autosave when it locked up could me turning it off have messed up my system this bad? Please help me somebody!

EDIT: I still am pissed about it!

Good luck moltenluv! I hope you find your saved game somewhere out there!!...

The hard drive being messed up is a side effect of your 360 dying. when you get a new 360 your hard drive will be fine, you can get a print-out shipping label from MS to get the 360 to them faster

My 360 died about three weeks ago. The video went out on it which - guess what - means I get to pay to get it fixed.

'luv, did you get an extended store warranty on your xbox? If so, just get a new one from the store. I understand your frustration with the language barrier. Unfortunately, we live in a global world now. We're lucky to get someone that speaks English, much less fluent, understandable English, lol.

Try to call the number again. If you send in the box, you'll keep the drive and get a repaired/replaced box in about 4 weeks. I kept my HDD, bought a second xbox, and my drive works fine on the new one.

No, I got it at my local mom and pop type video store. I did purchase the extended warranty from Microsoft though. I figured it would be a good investment since the store I got it at has no in-store warranties. But does this qualify? I mean it is working again. No more rrod and it loads up and all. I started over again with the Simpsons and played it all day and had no more issues. I am thinking that it was in the process of autosaving and when I killed the power because it froze it screwed something up. That expains why my save file dissappeared, or at least I think it does

Sorry to hear luv, How is the Simpsons? Is it worth renting?

So all you fuckers that don't get high,
Shut the fuck up and give it a try.

If you like the Simpsons you will love the game. It is hillarious! All I had left was a few more collectables to grab and a few more time trials to do when I lost my save. That being said, I played the entire game through again anyway and I didn't hate doing it! The game isn't that long so it wasn't that hard to get back to where I was. You can play offline co-op too. So to answer your question, yes it is worth renting.

Yea, but I believe gamesaving is not allowed, and I believe the notorious site that carried gamesaves is down. But anywho sorry to hear about what happened. I was in that situation 2 wks ago. I purchased a new one, the same day and just shipped out the broken 360 on Friday. Once I get it back I'm selling it, so yea.. Its been one hell of a week, just keep on a lookout again bro.

Did you try and play with the HDD unplugged from the console? it might just be your DVD drive being faulty but might be the HDD.. if you take it out and it runs then your HDD is bad if not then you know your problem is internal. I kept my Hard drive when I got my new Xbox 360.. hell they even gave me the one in the box lol..

Hmmm I hadn't thought of that. Thanks! I will give it a try. I have a feeling that my 360 is dying a slow and painful death. I keep getting rrod more frequently but it doesn't happen all the time. I really wish it would just die all together so I can send it away to be repaired.

Well like I said run it with the HDD out. You wont be able to save at all but if thats your problem then its an easy fix.. get the 120G HDD lol.. but if you get the RROD again with it out. You should let them know that your HDD was off and you still had the RROD and you want your HDD back with the replacment console.

Ok well it was worth a shot but I get rrod with the hdd off. Its just weird because I get rrod like 75% of the time but the other 25% of the time it works

Ok well today it finally died completely. I booted up Eternal Sonata, did one battle, it froze and after that it wouldn't come back on. I am kinda glad though because now I can send it off to be repaired. I registered online instead of calling the 1-800 number. It is much easier to fill out an online form than trying to explain your problem to one of the support people. Thanks everybody for trying to help me out!

I'm sorry to hear that. The same thing happened to mine where it kept freezing up until it eventually died. You should get in back within a few weeks.
