Hello to all and please help this noob!

I just joined this awesome site earlier today but am having problems getting an avatar and signature loaded up on the page . Im using mygamercard.net and copying the link they give and pasting it where it says put link here and it keeps saying invalid URL. I have tried different size files etc... I want to be an active poster on this site and I want the cool avatars and sigs everyone has got! If i cant figure this out I will be bummed and not encouraged to contribute. Please help!!

EDIT: I realize that my avatar already comes up but i still need help with the sig, like the custom one for XBA from mygamercad.net

Paste into Signature Box

Remove the '~'s out of the code.
