Thread: Open Tray Error

    Default Open Tray Error

So I bought a RROD Xbox on craigslist for $35. I went through the process of doing the x clamp replacement and now that its working it has the Open Tray error. It has a toshiba drive. Does anyone have a good fix for this?

    I'd really appreciate any help.

    Thanks!

It's harder to do than a red ring fix. It involves soldering wires inside the disc drive itself. It's simple in concept but not the actual process. You just have to buy a new drive that is the exact same model that you have, then switch out the PCB from the original drive to the new one and that's it. Any questions feel free to ask.

you need to do a pot calibration on the dvd drive. it will get rid of the error. open up the drive and behind the laser are 2 little potentiometers. the one on the left, you want to turn it just a little counter clockwise. keep turning it a little until the error is gone. its best to do it with an ohmmeter so you can read the pot. if you go too far you will burn up the laser.
there are guides on how to do it. google xbox pot calibration.
