XBOX TAKES "EUROPE BY STORM"
According to Microsoft the launch of its console was a "runaway hit", as Europe waits for tomorrow's announcement of official sales figures
14:38 Microsoft put its PR machine into full operation today, waxing lyrical about the launch of Xbox but falling shy of confirming any solid figures regarding the event. A full announcement is expected tomorrow.
The company confirmed yesterday that British gamers had taken up 48,000 machines out of an unconfirmed initial shipment of 80,000, although today's press release described the launch as a "near sell-out". Punters bought 2.5 games on average with their machines, the top-selling game being, unsurprisingly, Halo.
"I'm excited to finally see Xbox in the hands of gamers," said Sandy Duncan, Xbox Europe chief. "I've always known that Xbox is the best video game system ever, but after playing games with people at launch I see that gamers also recognise the amazing power and intense fun that only Xbox can offer. European gamers have welcomed Xbox into their hearts and into their homes in a big way."
Unfortunately, Microsoft finished its statement today with the following: "Anecdotal reports show that Xbox has entered our vocabularies – sorry Harry Potter, but 'wizard' is out... if something's cool, then it's 'totally Xbox'!"
Hell yeah! Er...

Just thought I would provide an update on the Uk launch. It appears that the XBOX is going to be a success over there. It also appears (so far) that the problems in the Japanese launch are not present. Vote in the poll and tell me your opinion. Peace.
