Overall: Overall, this game is one of the best games I've played this year. I'm not some fanboy slathering a game with praise or anything, but if I was, this game would be worthy of it. Call of Duty 4 places you in the shoes of an SAS SGT and a USMC SGT as they individually progress through missions is several theatres of operations.

The near-photo-realistic graphics bring you into game like never before. In fact, in the beginning, a scene I expected to be far more controversial than it actually turned out to be, you are placed in the shoes of the soon to be executed president of a middle eastern country. Needless to say, you are hung up at the stake and execute as you watch, from a first-person perspective. It was an intriguing scene and one that sets the tone for the game at large.

The combination of the games single player and multiplayer games makes for the single best value in gaming at the moment, even more so than the much-ballyhooed Orange Box. Not that that particular product is lacking in anything, I just think that this is where it's at right now. And I think it will be for most of the year, if not all of it.

Now that that is out of the way, read the rest of the review and then go buy this game. Or, if you want to save some time and get right to it, stop reading, take my advice, and hit up Best Buy; the game is on sale for $49.99 right now. It's worth every penny, my friend.
Gameplay: Single Player
The single player campaign, while short, is pretty engaging. It can be hard to get attached to the two separate characters you play in this iteration, SAS SGT "Soap" MacTavish and USMC SGT Paul Jackson. The cast of characters is memorable at times, though, my personal favorites being SAS CPT Price and SAS soldier Gaz, whose rank I honestly can't remember ever hearing.

The campaigns jump back and forth between the SAS and the USMC. While the SAS missions tend to be in Eastern Europe, the USMC missions are almost exclusively in the middle east. And because of that, I enjoyed the SAS missions alot more. There is one memorable sequence in the game where the player is placed in the gunner's chair aboard a C130 gunship and must selectively blast the insurgents in a small town. It's a great stage that really broke up the single player campaign.

In the end, the game ends up coming up a bit short in the single player campaign. It's not bad by any stretch, but the single player experience in games like Halo 3 are more involving and easier to feel an attachment to the main character. Still, a great overall effort.

Now this is where Call of Duty really shines. The pacing of the games is first rate and the experience system is the best in any FPS game I've played. The experience system in Battlefield 2 and BF2142 was similar enough, but this improves on that a great deal. The maps are extremely well balanced, from my experience. The only complaint that I've heard at all about the multiplayer is that people don't like the ability to shoot through soft cover. However, as a more realistic game than it's competition, Halo and such, this is well within the ideals that the game is trying to cover.

I've played both the 360 version of this game and the PC version. And while I had a little trouble getting used to clicking the stick to run, I'd say I'm definitely having more fun in multiplayer on the 360. My opinion thus far is that this is the most complete multiplayer FPS experience available at the moment.
Graphics: The graphics in the game are realistic and extremely well-done. I have found nothing at all to complain about and everything in the world to say good about it. If I had to nit pick the game at all, I would have to so that the only thing is there could be more textures for the different soldiers. But the game paces itself so well, that I only noticed that after watching several videos on YouTube. I've never noticed it playing the game as a gamer.

The style of the individual models is incredible. The ghillie suit that you wear in Ghillies In the Mist and that you can wear as a sniper look great even at speed. Ghillies in the mist really shows off some serious graphic prowess as you low crawl through knee-high gr@!%#*!.

The game is about as much of a cl@!%#*! act as anything you'll find these days. I've played a ton of other shooters and they all fall way short after playing this game.
Sound: The audio is exactly what it needs to be in this game. In the single player it doesn't detract from anything. It adds a little moments, as it builds sometimes, but this isn't as much of a concern for me as the sound effects and realistic noises are.

The sound in the game is, overall, excellent.
Suggestions: What do you tell a developer about a game that is probably going to be the Game of the Year? It's early in '08, I know, but the game could easily be the best game I play this year. The only thing I could think of to tell the developer would be to add more customizability to the actual player avatar.

That's it... That's terrible, isn't it? Wow, I can't think of anything else to do to make this better...

Overall: How can you get bored playing this game, it`s action around every corner. And the multiplayer on X-Box Live is amazing. Infinity Ward has done a GOOD job! There is soo much I can say about this game... But I`ll stick to short reviews.
So next time a Call Of Duty comes out, I`ll hope too stick to walls, because thats the one thing I miss in this game. But I think they will learn.
Gameplay: The gameplay feeling is amazing. When you put your sniper rifle too action, and shoot... you think: WoooW. The feeling in being control of precision and accuracy is nice :-). There is a lot of guns to play with, and tactics too. And i like what they have done with the sprinting and reloading, it`s more alive... if you know what i mean ;-)
But what i don`t like is that you can`t stick to walls, and that brings the game down -0,1...
Graphics: Explosions, smoke, flashbangs and a lot more... There is no doubt why this game got an award for best grapichs. The way the soldiers move and so on. All the small details.
I can`t come up with something, we can say it that way, that it`s nothing that i can say to bring the visual down. There is nothing negetive that I have found.
Sound: The surround just blowes me around. When Price is talking in my left surround speaker, I turn around to look if he`s really there. When you run around in both campaign and multiplayer, you feel like you`re right in the middle of it.

And it is not too much sound around, it`s perfect. Not too sharp or to noisy parts in the game when you turn down your sound -10. And all the guns have different sounds.
Suggestions: There is nothing too say here. They have done it all, this is the best game in a long time (besides HALO) I have ever played.

Overall: Call of Duty 4 is an all around wonderful game. Exciting campaign and fantastic multi-player make this one of 2007's best games. The campaign can easily be beaten by casual gamers while hardcore gamers can test themselves on the harder difficulty settings. Multi-player is fast and intense and easy to pick up on with enough depth to keep you coming back for along time. Two thumbs up for both the campaign and the multi-player aspects of the game. Visuals are wonderful, except for a few bland areas. Controls are very responsive and easy to pick up on. The audio is superb, nothing like hearing bullets flying by your head. Overall, Call of Duty 4 is a must have for any gamer.

Overall: If you enjoy cod2 cod3 then this is going to blow your minds…, cause this was COD ON CRACK!!
This game lives to its promise, fantastic game play , excellent sound, the only thing I thought the game lacked in was the story. The story could of been a bit longer., but the military realism was fantastic.. The online play is great lots of options like- team death or the create a squad is really great.. (However the only thing with online game play is its not too strategic its really just go out there and shoot.. however i love that :) but its not like gears where you have a few moments to think about a attack strategy... its too fast for that, in fact i barely hear the others talk on the headset everyone’s too busy watching there Ash, and shooting back... overall here it is storyline of medium quality very realistic considering we are in war as we speak with similar enemies, graphics not the best on character appearance but surrounding and cinemas are pretty good... sound made the freaking game 100 times more enjoyable if you have surround sound you know what I mean. Online I’m going to be honest its not better than halo or worst its actually the same move up in ranks...same kind of matches... loadings about the same... I'd say if you like halo 3 this game should be up there with you if you still to this day (like me) constantly play gears then.... you'll feel like its lacking.. however great game had fun playing it took me all of 6 hours to beat on regular setting, I also like the arcade mode I’m not gonna do it but its something to be said about replay value they went all out…

Gameplay: The game play was just how I expected a COD game to be easy buttons easy movements, fast and clear rapid fire. The game is such a smooth feeling when you play and the environment interactions this game has always been known for was ten times better this time around…(I personally enjoyed killing the dogs) lol anyways good all around game play..
Graphics: There are 3 aspects to any game COD 4 had all three when speaking about visual…
CINEMATIC- halo 2ish I’d say anytime there was a cut scene it stayed with the same in game graphics.. (I would of liked to see a bit more movie type graphics it’s the 360 use it that’s what I’ll always say)
CHARACTER’S —This kind of got me a bit upset I don’t see any character graphic improvement in this game its still like COD2. There not bad but look at games like M@!%#*! Effect, Gears, @!%#*!@!%#*!ins Creed, ETC..ETC.. if they could do it why cant you guys make characters a bit more crispier and smooth.
ENVIRONMENT—Very Very good I though the way things kept blowing up the way the suits looked on the soldiers like the field snipers, environment wise this did not lack at all.. very pleasing

Sound: OH MAN… fan-freaking-tastic this game was so awesome in surround I kept hearing bullets behind me I was scared… lol no but honestly this game better win some kind of sound award because it tapped so great to my 5.1 capabilities, even when I turned the surround off the way it was coming out of the tv speakers was just as decent.
Suggestions: Ok.. I know you guys are true to making COD stay like COD but … you got to improve it or add things right. You guys need to add a way to hide better from fire.. in that I mean I’m so sick and tired of seeing the enemy hide behind shelter and blind fire or roll out into another means of cover… I would improve that I would try to add a bit of Gears there u know hide a bit blind shoot.. and also I was thinking aside from showing the grenade marker can u add a beeping system that when the grenade is right there it beeps faster and when it’s a really away from you all you see is the marker.. IDK just saying.. My last suggestion is this upgrade character graphics and can we the “character/player” get a starting role in the video game all I herd was soap do this do that… can we just have a COD with a create a character play a role in the game I’m tired of being a no body soldier I wanna be the head guy in charge..

Overall: The fourth last months of 2007 has been a really busy period for our Xbox 360. We finally saw the launch of Halo 3 and we got some major blockbuster release. Just to name a few, we got Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3, The Orange Box and other great game like As-sasin's Creed and Mas-s Effect. Each year, the cream of video game is competiting in a cruel fight for the award of the game of the year. But this year, I think that there is one game that truly stand out of the crown, this game is none less than Call Of Duty 4. Call Of Duty 4 is a thrilling, intense, action-packed adventure with one of the most complete multiplayer ever made. The gameplay is near perfect, the visual is totally next-gen and the sound is top notch. Call Of Duty 4 is the best investment I add for year. Trust me, Infinite Ward is no-thief.

Gameplay: Call Of Duty 4 might be one of the best game of all time, but the special edition is just a total waste of money. The box is made in cheap paperboard and the bonus disc is full of trailer you probably saw a thousand times. The only real bonus comes in form of a docu-mentary about the SAS. If you can stay awake for one hour and manage to get over the British accent, maybe you will enjoy it.The story is told from the perspective of three person ( Sgt Jonhson, Soap Mc Tavish, Captain Price ). You must kill a russian ultranationalist leader named Imran Zakhaev who is set on returning his homeland to the times of the Soviet Union by revolting against the current government. The story is quite impressive and there is some turn you never expected. The campaing might be only a five hour experience, but everything feel so fresh and inspired that no one will ever complain about that. You will escape from a russian's cruiser, you will scout street, you will defend places stormed by thousand of ennemies, you will sneak your way into the ennemies line, take control of an AC-130 gunship and even snipe someone from eight hundred feet. No matter what you are going to do, you will never feel left down. Artificial intelligent is also incredible in Call Of Duty 4. At least, for most of the game. Your squadmate are ingenious because they will scout corner, check your back, throw flashbang and never run in the middle of no where. You can even let them do the whole mission by themself. But when you will switch character to Sgt. Jonhson, you feel ashamed at some moment. As an example, in Charlie Don't Surf, there is a part of the game where you must fight in a television station in a close quarter situation. My teammate were popping up of no where and instead of taking cover, they rush in the middle of heavy resistance and get kill like dummies. There is some tactical element include in your squad, but freelance NPC are just too dumb. If you finished the whole campaign, you can do it arcade style. Arcade is basicly the same campaign with a scoring system, life and time to accomplish your mission. The problem remain in the scoring system. If you finish the game without dying or in a fastest time than anybody else, you praticaly not rewarded. A thousand point only for one life and two minute on the timer. It is a shame ! The result give a big opportunity for gamer to cheat and exploit the leaderboard. I saw one guys with two million point in a ten minute mission with practically nobody to kill. At least, you can compare your stats with your on-line buddy. But in my case, i am alone because no one seem interested in this mod.

The multiplayer is everyone favorite part of the game. Maybe you think it is just an another first person multiplayer, but the addition of perk change everything. No one is geared the same, you can have someone with a stopping power, which increased damage, someone else with martyrdrom, which drop a grenade when you die, or maybe someone spying your conversation with the voice perk. So many combination to do, so many gun to choose from, many multiplayer challenge and stuff to unlock, that Call Of Duty 4 is going to take all you free time. If you are worry about the gameplay type, let me tell you that there is nothing greater than playing Search And Destroy, where you must plant a bomb ( Counter Strike look alike ) or Headquarter, where you must cap a headquater and hold it, or Hardcore, where one shot and you die, with your friends in a party mod. A nice addtion was rank. In fact, you can go up to level 55 and redo it ten times with prestige mod. Maybe ten time is a little bit too much and there is nothing really funny with the fact that you just have a special medal near your name, or that you loose all your gun and achievement, but it still a nice feature for hardcore gamer. Maps are also really nice, except for showdown and shipment who are too small and too much unspired, but everything else is amazing. This is the first time I enjoyed so many maps in a single game. If you manage to get three kill, you can have a UAV, if you can go up to five kill, an airstrike, and seven kill, a chopper. The worst part of the multiplayer remain in party mod's problem. It is really hard to connect to a party, sometimes the party crash or you can't join a friends. At least, Infinite Ward promise a patch for this.

Graphics: Call Of Duty 4 outstand every game in the visual department. You will be able to see giant wave in your way out of the russian cruiser, but also one of the best geometry I seen so far. When the russian cruiser will sink, you will totally feel it. Helicopter's ride are also a good way to show you how the game it well done, especially with captain price's conversation in the first level and when a nuclear bomb will go off. There is no limit in the draw line, character's animation are fluid and real, texture are excellent and even on a standard TV.

Sound: There is nothing really special in the audio department. I must admit that I totally love the Infinite Ward's rap song when the credit scroll down or the main theme, but there is no real music in the game. What you get here is explosion, grenade's tossing, impeccable voice acting and fire in every side. This is the best audio experience you can have in war simulation.

Suggestions: Better scoring system, patch for party's problem, least prestige mod. Keep up the good work. I absolutly want a Call Of Duty 5.

Overall: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a solid first-person shooter. The single-player campaign is well-acted, has some surprising moments, and has enough variation to keep the player wanting more. There is no vehicular combat in the sense that you do not get to pilot any vehicles; you do, however, get to escort an Abrams tank (which will happily lay waste to bad guys giving you a hard time), and in one of the best levels in the single-player portion of the game, you are given control of the three main guns of the AC 130 Spectre Gunship.

The only complaints I have is that this game (and most new shooters, for that matter), is making drama a top-priority. What I mean by this is, they are creating characters out of the soldiers in your platoon, and out of the bad guys you are hunting; they are also creating relationships between the two (your S.A.S. team leader had a previous encounter with the top bad guy in the game... small world, no?). Now, some will say this is to make you care about your squad mates, so that you will do a better job of protecting them, and you will feel bad when they are gunned down. This is all fine, in theory, but one problem with this is that these "main" teammates don't die, which leads to another big problem for me - scripted events.

The reason these teammates don't die is because they are needed for scripted events taking place in the future, which really makes you feel like nothing in the single-player campaign is under your control. I always thought the entire joy from video games came from the fact that the players were in complete control of their environments and all within, but this is more and more a myth in games. Because of the intense scripting, events that seemed so mind-blowing and awesome the first time around become trivial and predictable after multiple plays, which to me, can be a game-killer. Replayability is one of the most important factors in a video games to me, and with game costs rising and replayability falliing, I am starting to rent more than actually purchase.

Also, the level of machoism that exists in the Force Recon portion of the campaign is staggering; your squad leader sounds more like Duke Nukem than Duke Nukem. If anyone else finds this alarming, please let me know that I am not alone. It will make me sleep better at night.

Well, now that I have complained about the single-player, time to set my sights on the multiplayer component of the game. With a few minor gripes aside, the fun factor is high.

There are certain "challenges" you can complete, some specific to guns, others totally random (kill two consecutive enemies will in midair). Completing challenges can be quite rewarding, as they give you valuable experience points. Also, with each kill, you gain experience points (towards your overall rank), and depending on the game type, various actions yield even more points, such as arming the bomb, capturing a territory, or destroying the enemy HQ. These points are used to advance your rank, which yields you better weapons, perks, different camo patterns for your guns, and new challenges.

Another great thing about the multiplayer is that there is plenty of game types to keep everyone satisfied. There is Team Deathmatch, which is essentially you getting your @!%#*! handed to you by a bunch of punk preteen trash talking zits, even though you got the drop on them and shot them in the face about 18 times. My personal favorite is Team Hardcore, which works on the simply insane notion that if you shoot someone in the face or chest area, they go down after one hit. Weird, I know, but try it out and let me know what you think. There is also Ground War, which has full servers (up to 18 players) for the players who love big team battles and constant carnage. Other modes include Cage Match (one on one), Domination (multiple territories that give points as long as your team controls them), Free For All (a free for all), and a few others. Needless to say, you can find something to suit your style of gameplay, and if you can't, you are high maintenance and should be playing Morrowind right now.

Now, on to perks. You have three slots for perks in multiplayer, with each slot containing certain perks. This was done in an effort to counterbalance and complement each perks' strength and weakness, meaning you can't stack the three "best" perks on top of each other; you have to choose which ones fit your style. As for me, I like to go in quick and quiet, so I usually use Bomb Squad (for spotting enemy C4 and claymores - even through walls), UAV Jammer (after three consecutive kills, you get to call in a UAV to show the locations of enemy players on your minimap; with the Jammer perk, you remain invisible, completely shattering their false sense of security when you jam your knife into their fallopian tube), and Dead Silence, which makes the noise you make when moving decrease dramatically. These perks, used in tandem with a silencer (normally, you appear on enemy radar when you fire a weapon, but with the silencer, you are a ghost), will make the enemy team wish they had never been born into such a cruel and heartless world.

And now that I have touted the multiplayer as world cl@!%#*!, it is time for my inevitable @!%#*!ing to ensue. Customization, weapons notwithstanding, is nonexistent. You cannot customize your character AT ALL. The only time you get a ghillie suit is when you select the sniper cl@!%#*!, or you set a sniper rifle as your primary weapon in the create-a-cl@!%#*!.

Also, your fire rate is predefined, and cannot be changed. I would really like to set my M-16 to single shot, but alas, God has decided to make my pointless existence on this planet that much more tortured. I am stuck with three-shot burst.

I will say, however, that the M14 is quite possible the most boner-inducing (labia stimulating, for the ladies) weapon on the face of the Earth (when used in Hardcore), and clawing your way up to level 46 is well worth it.

And finally, the match making bugs are killing me! They have been getting better, and I hear there is an update to correct the "Playlist is older than the hosts a.k.a. haha-infinity-ward-just sucked-$60-from-your-wallet-for-a-half-done-game" bug, but still, when I finally @!%#*!emble a party of six guys from XBA (which is no easy feat, as half of them *cough* mattgame *cough* completely ignore every futile attempt I make to invite them into my party), and select a game type, it is frustrating to see that 5 of them have been dropped from my party.

Hopefully, Infinity Ward will fix these bugs with some updates, and even if they don't, I will probably still play, because I am such a whore for shooting people.
Graphics: The graphics are incredible. If there is one thing I must single out, it would be how good they have implemented the ghillie suit into the game. When you are in one, and you are laying down, you are VERY hard to spot. I cannot count the number of times in multiplayer I have been laying down in a gr@!%#*!y field and had an enemy teammate basically step on my face and run right by, only to catch a .50 cal round to the back of the head. Beautiful.
Suggestions: Fix the bugs before you release the game (what was the point of the beta?????), stop trying to turn the single-player campaign into a soap opera, and for the love of god, give the prepubescent teen boys their own servers, because I am so tired of listening to them tell me the dirty things they are doing to me mother; its just an insult to milf-bangers everywhere.

Overall: I've seen my colleagues reviews and I agree with them to a certain extent. Where do we disagree? The score. The only knock that I can think of for Call Of Duty 4 is the short single player experience. Other than that this game is as close to perfect as it gets. Since it hasn't been said yet I'll say it, yes, overall it's better than Halo 3. Calm down Halo 3 fans, Halo 3 is great but Call Of Duty 4 is greater. I have never had so much fun playing a video game in my life. The multiplayer alone is only surp@!%#*!ed in depth by Halo 3. The graphics are phenomenal and the sounds in the game are terrifyingly real. It is the best game for the 360 to date.
Gameplay: My fellow addicts already explained the gameplay so I'll only add that if this is war then call the police cause I'm going to jail! The hell that has broken lose in this game is unmatched in any game I've ever played and it never lets up. You literally feel like one false move and your squadmates will be calling the coroner for your carc@!%#*!. Again, the disappointment is the length of gameplay but it does not lack at all in quality. If you ever wondered what it is like to go to war then get this game and get ready to meet your maker.
Graphics: The best looking game on the 360 to date. The attention to detail is remarkable. There is not one single complaint in this area. Everything in this world is realistically created and mostly destructible. It is a visual masterpiece. It is the reason why I brought a 360.
Sound: Let me tell ya, I wouldn't last two minutes on the battlefield. The first time I heard a hot slug whiz by my forehead, I'm running the other way! This game gives you that feeling. It makes you leery of peeking out because if you look then you may see that AK bullet headed straight at you. In this game, you can hear the bombs and explosions going off all around you. You can hear the chatter of the other team with a certain perk and the sounds of every other thing in the game sounds incredible.
Suggestions: Do it again. The Ugly Truth: Best. Multiplayer. Ever.

Overall: Infinity Wards first shot at Modern Day combat. Play as a British S.A.S. agent and a U.S. marine in a riviting storyline that doesn't let up from start to finish. You have a wide variety of modern day weapons. You will need them to survive. The A.I. of your squad and the enemy further blurs the lines between this video game and reality.

The plot focuses on stolen Russian nuclear weapons and Middle-Eastern terrorists hellbent on revenge and total destruction. The plot could easily be torn from modern day headlines. There is one very minor flaw in the game that needs to be addressed. See my Developer Suggestions.
Gameplay: Fight against modern day terrorists controlling a British S.A.S. agent and a U.S. marine in a pulse racing, gripping plot that takes you from the present into the past with a spot-on control scheme and jawdropping visuals. Take the best of the Rainbow Six series and the Ghost Recon series and combine it with Infinity Wards flair to get it right and you have the best modern day shooter ever made. Escape a sinking ship, drop bombs from an aircraft andman the gun of a helicopter. This game has it all.
Graphics: Simply the best visuals of any game on any modern day platform. The visuals combined with a thrilling plot, perfect controls, accurate audio and smart enemy A.I. bring you right into the action. The game looks like footage out of the news. You are totally imbedded by the steller graphics.
Sound: The best looking videogame to date needs perfect audio to match. Call of Duty 4 delivers rich, deep battlesounds and context appropriate dialogue. Sounds as real as it gets. You really feel like you are part of the squad due to the impeccable audio. There are also coomands that you must listen to in order to survive. Tootally immersive audio experience.
Suggestions: The only flaw in the game, if you can call it that, is the names that appear near your friendlies. This should be an option that will hopefully be addressed in an update. Having the names of your squad displayed takes the gamer one step back from this ashtonishing shooter.

Overall: It isn't often a game franchise can alter it's setting and underlying story to something completely different, and succeed. Previous COD games were old fashioned, re-creating battles fought in World War 2 and beyond. We had a slightly fictional, yet believable and realistic, understanding of parts of the war. The look of guns, uniforms, and the ever trembling call to serve your country. It worked, but history can only be told so many times before you become bored. A truly fictional plot and feel needed to be devised to keep the series fresh and interesting. Welcome to Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat. The game puts us in present day, with the latest weaponry available to the professional teams of Britain (S.A.S) and America (U.S.M.C.). The story has a familiar theme to games like Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. A civil war is occuring in the middle east and Russia, ultranationalists and their leaders threaten American safety with nukes ahoy. Familiar ideas from other squad based shooters are present, but COD4 has a few perks that seperates the boys from the men.

The amount of action in call of duty is breathtaking. Never have there been so many enemies to kill with a threat behind each corner. You constantly feel at danger and extremely "in" the war. You aren't some Rambo one-man machine, however. At your side are your very smart squad mates, who cover your back and display extremely professional traits. You'll be glad you have these guys when you see the enemy ai, as well. Prepare to be flanked, flushed out, and overrun. Not to mention the hundreds of RPG's you'll find on many, many enemies. These guys aren't just trying to win a war of attrition, they're smart and deadly.

You feel like a part of a bigger war in this game. Although the highest priority missions sit on your shoulders, you will find other firefights occuring throughout the game without you. Along with air strikes and helicoptor support, this is a m@!%#*!ive scale battle. The game also tries to put you into the mind of the character. You'll find to be near death and dazed often, barely walking multiple times. You need to do what you can to pull yourself together, or your mission will fail. When you take heavy fire the screen pulses your heartbeat and heavy breathing can be heard. It works well to give a more personable feel.

The game has enough side missions to keep your attention throughout the game. It's not all run and gun, there are several specialized missions. Can you make a long range snipe, having to take wind into account? How about supplying the boys enemy with chain gun fire or the devestating effects of 102mm rounds on unsuspecting enemies below? The weaponry in the game is very advanced, a breath of fresh air from previous COD games.

The multiplayer is similar to campaign and well done compared to COD3. I hate to compare games, but it is similar to Halo 3's matchmaking system, but has it's unique counterparts. This makes it a lot easier to find games with your friends. The game also features a fully custamizable "create your character" option, aside from physical appearance.
Gameplay: The game isn't a complete overhaul on previous call of duty games. The button scheme will be right at home, smooth sailing for any fps veteran. A few extra features are thrown in, though, to mix things up a bit. Firstly, very advanced weaponry. Most weapons have attached lazer scopes allowing supreme accuracy, but you still look down your iron sights putting you, the gamer, deeper into the game. Tank disposal is also a lot less frustrating. By using the "javelin" missile you can lock on to tanks from behind cover, and shoot the missile into the sky. It will track and destroy your target, easing several headaches from difficult missions. You have flashbangs, night vision, huge air support. A lot of things are available to mix things up.

The actual gameplay works well. With the familiar crouch, prone, stand system accessible through one button. Grenades can be primed, or thrown back at enemies. There is plenty of cover you will be forced to take. However, not all cover is good cover. This works for you, and against you. Flimsy walls, boxes, all can be shot directly through to inflict pain. Cars will explode when fired upon, and a few explosives are scattered about. Luckily, you have a sprint button to find and get to the right cover asap.

Looking down your iron sights still works beautifully and smoke screen, flash bangs, and grenades are easily usable through a single button. You now have your trusty knife, which you can use to stealth kill enemies or slash them from the front. You also need it to kill the vicious dogs your enemies have trained to attack you, or your throat will become dog food.

I have a few minor gripes as well. The level's aren't very open ended, mostly linear. Usually consists of following your squad leader through a pre-determined path and doing as he says. Luckily, there is enough diversity to the levels that this doesn't get repetitive, and works well. Another thing is avoiding obstacles when things get tricky. The various trees and small boxes and car rubble all look scalable, but if you try to walk over them you will stop in your tracks. This can get frustrating when trying to leave an area asap, your jumps are small and weak.

The multiplayer's combat is very similar to the campaign, but you will die a lot faster. There is a wide diversity of levels ranging from sniper-favourable to sub-machine run'n'gunners. A lot of different game types are available, too. Cl@!%#*!ic deathmatches and objective based games are available along with many others. However, extra game modes need to be unlocked for multiplayer by achieving a high rank. You rank up based on how many kills you can get in your game life-time. Not only do you unlock game-modes, you unlock some of the best weaponry once you have played enough. Unlockable content in multiplayer is very questionable for the average gamer base. My first game I played with people over 20 levels higher than me, all of whom had some great weapons. This can be frustrating to the newer gamer.
Graphics: Call of Duty 4 has some of the best graphics on the 360 to date. A lot of detail went into most aspects, but it does have minor flaws. The looks of the people you will encounter are very realistic. Blocky facial figures have been rounded, and facial expressions can be seen, as well as the level of detail from scars, stubble, eye color, a lot of things. The guns look very advanced and impressive, along with explosions. Seeing dirt fly out of a missile strike or the shrapnel blown off of a tank is great.

This chapter in the COD saga has recieved a mature rating, un-like it's previous titles. It shows. Headshots will spray a satisfying amount of blood into the area, and enemy reactions to getting a line of fire from nave to chap is great. Very awsome death animations, wherever they are shot at.

The buildings look precisely like buildings. They are detailed and realistic to the point you probably couldn't tell a difference from a picture. There is a lot of texture and colors arrayed across most buildings to give a war torn dirty look.

No doubt the ground, gr@!%#*!, shrubs, and water look good, but not amazingly good. The nature environment is one aspect that could be improved upon. The shrub's stem entering the ground doesn't look top notch, it looks so straight. The ground itself is rich with colors to show dirt or sand, but I don't see gr@!%#*! flowing in the wind, beautiful water, or texture to make sand look truly like sand. It seems like they did everything they could to make any "human" related stuff amazing, but shoved the environment aside. This works, though, in the fact that you will rarely be looking at nature because there are so many enemies to fight.
Sound: It is rare to find such convincing audio in a game these days. As I said before, the developers really tried to put you into the game. The voice acting is some of the best I've seen in a game. Perfect voices were used to display the "bad@!%#*! marine" theme, along with other familiar sterotypes; those that are @!%#*!y, those that are reserved, those that have panick in their voice. You feel very convinced with the image you recieve from these guys, just through their voice. Another thing I really enjoyed was when a huge explosion was made via the "war-plane" others on-board would say humorous phrases, pointing out the level of carnage you just inflicted.

The sound is so important in Call of Duty to get the full experience. Your squad mates will inform you if enemies are trying to flank, and say which way they are coming from. This gives you time to re-adjust your position without getting shot in the side first. Another thing sound does is tell you where enemies are coming from. If you hear a bark of a dog, take a look around your area to listen for where it sounds loudest. This will tell you where they are coming from and allow you to mow them down before entering the "break the dog's neck before it eats your throat" mini-game.

Bullets whizzing by your head sound great, and really get you pumpin'. But perhaps the most used sound of all is the sound of a grenade clinking along the ground, just waiting to blow you apart. Keep your ears open and you can react before it even gets near you. The sounds of explosions, gunfire that gets lowder as you near and enemy cries will have you begging for more. If you hear an enemy yell, and he's nowhere to be seen, get ready to be ambushed.
Suggestions: Campaign:
Give a little more detail to the gr@!%#*! and ground, footprints and waving gr@!%#*! would be nice. Water isn't quite as realistic yet either, look at halo 3's water.
Fix some small rubble stopping you in your tracks problems and don't use the brain to display your dieing, looks a little creepy.
Some of the "dazed walking" scenes may have been prolonged a bit.

Give a ranked and unranked mode. In the unranked mode, allow game types that you have unlocked and weapons to be used. In ranked give everyone a fair shot, everything is unlocked. It is frustrating to start off against people with better gear.
