Project Gotham was our first racing goodness on the Xbox, as it was available at launch and purchased by everyone that wanted a great racing game and one that showed the power of the Xbox at the same time. This series has been a favorite amongst everyone and will undoubtedly begin to flaunt another power that Microsoft has given us: XboxLive. Not only does PGR2 have what it takes in the graphic department like the original, but to be able to challenge your friends and the best in the world using the XboxLive service is something that no game has done so far."

Overall: Project Gotham Racing 2 is an absolutely fantastic game in every sense. It features the most varied car list in ANY racer on the xbox. Where else can you drive a Trident Iceni, a Delfino Feroce or an Ascari KZ1. It's pieced together with gorgeous visuals, a very good soundtrack and the best gameplay of any racer at the time. It trampled over every game at the time and to be honest only a handful of games compare to it even now. It's an instant cl@!%#*!ic that will be cherished for years to come.
Gameplay: Cream of the crop when it comes to this category. For people new to arcade type racers the driving may take a bit of time to get used to but once you are used to it, you'll be hooked. Now for the career mode : absolutely FANTASTIC. It took me several months to gain the "all platinum medals" status and I was generously rewarded with the TVR Speed 12. The menus are easy to navigate and the physics are extremely adaptive.
Graphics: Gorgeous visuals overall. The cars look fantastic! The enviroments, while not quite as detailed as the vehicles, are still beautifully put together. You'll get lost in the surroundings of sydney, chicago and nurburgring. It's a @!%#*! shame that the cities featured in this game didn't make it to PGR3 an PGR4. Deserves a 10.
Sound: The Porsche Carrera GT has never sounded better. The Ferraro F40 never so ferocious. The CLK-GTR never so fast. The Ascari KZ1 so powerful... well you get the idea. The cars sound near perfect and the soundtrack is very nicely chosen ranging from techno to rock to rap. Splendid original tracks too. Crash addict is one of the best electronica songs to date. Some tracks could have been left out though.
Suggestions: Keep up the excellent work on PGR5 as 3 and 4 were fantastic. Love you bizarre creations. But for PGR 4 or 5 please put the Bugatti Veyron in as DLC or in PGR5. PLEASE!!!

Overall: Its hard to believe that this is better than the first. The first game is the best racing game available, until this one of course. Xbox Live is a great addition.
Gameplay: So many different cars and tracks, if only they were customizable. The new kudos system is awesome. Xbox Live adds a hole new dimension to the game, you can go online and race people if you ever get tired of the single player game.
Graphics: Wow, the environments in this game are one of the best on the xbox, don't forget the cars, the cars look like the real life counter-parts. I only wish there were more destructible parts.
Sound: Customizable sound track, what a feature, now you can listen to anything you want. The sound of tires squealing is very realistic.
Suggestions: Keep up the good work, for PGR3 maybe do customizable vehicles and more destructive parts on the cars.

Overall: A good game for its style. If you think that games like Burnout 2 were to unrealistic but other games like GT3 were to boring and hard, get PGR 2.
Gameplay: Takes a long time to finish it, which is always good. Kudos is really cool and makes sense, same for the Kudos tokens. The load time is really quick and Xbox Live is really fun to race on.
Graphics: Very, very good looking, realtime shadows, bloom lighting (not to much) on the road and your car. If it is sunset time, when driving towards the sun the light will gleam off of the top of your car, almost burning your eyes like in real life. The way your drive moves in the car is really neat and fun to watch him/her totally using his/her body to brace for a tight turn. Damage is fine for me, as long as it has it, isn't true that Gran Turismo 3 doesn't even have deformable car bodies?
Sound: Engines sounds are really good, skidding sounds are realistic. But the crash noises are slightly off, they don't seem big enough. But I never really notice because I never drive my cars at 200mph just to crash them into walls like other people do. The radio stations are really cool, thats why I like driving in Japan more than anything else. :D
Suggestions: Why the hell isn't there a mode where you choose your car, the track, and your enemies??!! Just a single event mode would be cool.

Overall: Amazing the offline is fun but the online is outrageous. Cat and Mouse team racing are so addicting.
Gameplay: Amazing crashing, blocking, the cutting people off is so amazing and you can tell them how much that must have sucked.
Graphics: Vehicles look amazing, no flaws or jagged parts sticking out when your hit. The landscape is also fun to look at before running into the wall.
Sound: Custom soundtracks is brilliant and the radio is still decent. Nice it gives you a choice unlike most games.
Suggestions: Turn off the ghosts. Make it available to turn it on and off. Also make it so you can find the game your looking for easier, cat& mouse for example. Allow your guest to sign on and off without having to quit that lobby. No more "premium content downloads" I pay enough for the game and the live plus the internet, router, tv.

Overall: This grame is great, i love the custom soundtracks and the handles are great, not to mention the realistic life-like graphics.
Gameplay: The handles are awesome, they take a while to get used to them but after that its awesome. Some other games have really touchy steering!!!
Graphics: The graphics are amazing, they look so lifelike. the water look so real and the cars, oh the cars are amazing!!!
Sound: The sound is ok, i like how you can put your own custom soundtracks in them and listen to them as you race. the bad part is the sound affects they need to be more appealing and more crash-like, not like some games were you hit head on and all you hear is "dink"
Suggestions: I would like to see added sound- affects to give you that real crash feel, like Burnout 3 has.

Overall: I love this game, it takes some serious driving skills to get through the challenges. This gives the game a lot of replay value, although it can be frustrating at times its worth it when you finally come out on top.
Gameplay: This game plays extremely smooth. When you drive through area with buildings it really feels like your flying. Not to mention a realistic sense of handling, each car is so unique in handling its pretty amazing.
Graphics: The graphics are great, It would be nice though when getting damaged if more parts would fall of the car and if you could pretty much fold up the front end when hitting head on at a high speed that would be cool. roads look great. I love getting into the low camera angle view the road flying by looks great. I also like the reflections you get of of some of the buildings with large store fron windows. pretty cool stuff.
Sound: sound is good, each car has its own unique sounds which is pretty cool, custom sounds tracks are great. put some music in makes you feel like driving. but i think they chould add to the sound when you go flying past an oponet, maybes some wind sound as you blow by.
Suggestions: At some sounds effects to the cars that gives you the sensation your wipping by the person you pass. mayb some wooshing wind sounds. Also some of those cars could use unlocakable paint jobs, i suggest racing decals and such would be neat. the prosche 911 GT 1 gots that plain grey i thought it loog great with racing stripes and some racing decals. just an example

Overall: While I enjoyed the first Project Gotham racing a whole bunch, I never fell in love with it, primarily because of the closed feeling on the courses. The path is so tight and confined, that it takes away a certain fun element for me. Unfortunately, Project Gotham 2 didn't really deviate from the same closed racing path style. However, it made some upgrades that really improved the game, and made it a winner for me. Namely it has the best use of Xbox Live of any game to date. Even in the single player mode, it will compare your scores to everyone elses. And, you can download anybody's ghost car and see how the true champs do it.
Gameplay: There are TONS of cars and tracks to choose from in PG2, and every car handles and sounds very differently. There are a lot of various race modes to choose from. Sometimes you'll race against others for a street race, or a 1 on 1, and other times you race alone for kudos (style points). As I said above, my one beef with PG2 is that the courses are very confined (no alternate paths, shortcuts, free roaming, and except for a few tracks near the end of the game, you can't ever get even slightly off the road.
Graphics: Nothing to complain about here. The visuals look fantastic. Great cars and environments. The damage modeling is great. Everything runs and looks smooth.
Sound: The cars sound good, and each has a unique sound. The inclusion of the custom soundtrack feature earns PG2 a 5 in this category.
Suggestions: I would like to see a more open-ended gameplay mode mixed in with the confined spaces ones.

Overall: The catch line for this game is supposed to be ?Racing with Style?; a more accurate statement (for me) would be ?This is racing frustration?. While visually stunning, this game is more work than it fun. I think the only way I could enjoy this game was to totally ignore the Kudos system and use the cheats (when they come out) to unlock all the cars. I plan on trading-in both PGR 1 and 2 on Burnout 3 when it comes out.
Gameplay: The Kudos Challenge was not even mildly enjoyable because of the over emphasis on realism; most of the cars handled badly while the AI cars seemed to glide the road without making a mistake. I found myself trying to make it to the first corner (every track has that first narrow corner to overcome) and cause a pile-up with the other cars in hopes of coming out of it in first place. If you don?t secure the first place position right off, then you might as well forget the rest of the race or start-over. Even is Arcade mode, it was a chore trying to navigate through the very boxy streets with cars that seemed too big for the road, especially when there was a group of racers. The game encourages power sliding but the streets are so narrow that I never got a real good slide without hitting the guard rails. I know it take practice to get used to it but I really didn?t want to put that much time into it.(Lazy)I also hate how you come to a dead stop when you hit a guard-rail, even slightly. My last complaint is starting off in sixth or last place in each race. Although you can easily pass most of the other racers, the lead car has a tremendous lead on you right out of the gate. I wish all racers started off in an even line and the car with best acceleration specs took the lead; that I could deal with. Or, as you win your way through the lower skill levels, you also advance in starting position. I know this sounds like whining but I was just disappointed in the game-play.
Graphics: No complaints here, the game is visually stunning; awesome detail in the cars, cities and overall environment.
Sound: Most of the stock soundtracks were garbage. The fact that you can play your own mixes saves this department. The car engines and road ambiance, however, was right-on target.
Suggestions: Lose the Kudos system. Make the streets wider. Tone down the steep AI factor. I don?t blame the developer for the awful soundtrack; it?s difficult to please everyone?s musical taste. Consider the fun factor that other popular racing games exploit; Need For Speed and Burnout?s arcade like feel and the space friendly feel of other racers.

Overall: Awesome game!!! From the moment you pick it up till...(i dunno, I havent put it down yet), you are tryin to make those tight turns at amazing speeds. With the most diverse and best car selection ive seen in a game since Sega GT 2002.
Gameplay: Racing, Racing, and i think some more racing. This isnt like NFS Underground. You cant "construct" your car, but you sure as hell can race the best of the best. Also provides one hell of an XBOX Live experience!
Graphics: THE MOST REALISTIC, AND DETAILED GRAPHICS I have ever seen on any system. Incredible lighting effects, smooth framerates, and extremely detailed cars/ tracks.
Sound: Sounds that put you in the seat of your car...with an in game radio that ahs actual radio stations with hosts that speak the language of the country your racing in...not to mention... custom soundtracks!
Suggestions: Awesome game...maybe add some pedestrians, make the cities more alive feeling.

Overall: Cool game with really good graphics. The damage thing was a cool feature, they never used it before. Not really that good though because it doesn't actually do anything and the car can only be dented even when you hit the wall straight on at 200 mph. This said of course, I feel betrayed. The people who work this game are complete !&%$@#* s and i hope their next project gotham fails miserably, You are of course wondering what I'm talking about. Well, they are making you pay for downloadable content. Do not buy this game if you wanna pay the live fee, pay the game price, and then pay for downloadable content too. I used to love this game and would give it a 4.5 - 5 but now, with downloadable content, I give it a 2 tops.
Gameplay: Really fun in online but I'm not sure about the way the cars handle. When you break some of the cars start to slide like crazy and it is next to impossible to make a turn unless you slowly break whihc means you have to start breaking early. Also, 1 or two cars i've found don't even turn. They just slide sideways going maybe 10 metres sideways for every meter the way you wanna go. Not only does it kill your speed if you don't wanna hit somethin (you gotta take turns at a huge angle) it's annoying as hell cause i can't figure out how to drive these. Overall though, most of the cars are fun as hell to drive and nothing beats goin from 0 to 100 in like 1 second.
Graphics: Awsome graphics. 'nough said. Backgrounds are completely real and awsome textures on the cars. Damag is kinda iffy though
Sound: I never really listened to the soundtracks provided cause i love how they incprporated the sound track maker thing. You can listen to your own songs while drivin. I love to hear the car noises though, they really are amaazing
Suggestions: Single player is boring, only lives worth it.
If you ever wanna have a sequel you will make it so people don't have to pay for downloadable content. Otherwise, no one will play it.
P.S. I only wrote the review so i could bitch about paying for downloadable content

Overall: A great follow up to the original. Improved in nearly every way possible. The cars look great, the Kudos system is more intuitive and the xbox live stuff is great
Gameplay: Completely addictive gameplay, mainly because the same race never feels like the same race because of how you decide to drive. The AI can get really tough, but it's all good.
Graphics: The cities looks so real it's almost scary. The cars reflect the amazing backgrounds at a faster pace. Even the water looks awesome! Not to mention that the cars are photo-realistic.
Sound: Engines, tires squeeling, smashing into walls, it all sounds great. Not to mention that you can add you own soundtracks into the game which is still cool.

Overall: Quality game - easily the most realistic and playable driving game out there. Loads of cars to choose from and many, many tracks. Marvelous, Hmmmn What?!?!?!?1
Gameplay: Movement is smooth, and the controls are very effective.
The only downfall is that your car seems to abide to different physical to the cpu cars. (I.E - you go into the back of a cpu car and you go wildly out of control, and if a cpu car crashes into your car you STILL go wildly out of control. I've nearly thrown my XBOX against the wall on numerous occasions!!!
Graphics: Visuals are spot on!!!! Graphics are smooth and contored. Each car looks fantastic and the glint of chrome is very attractive.....
Sound: Engine/Sound effects are good. The music that was provided was a bit naff, but this is cool as you can play your own music in the game anyway.
Suggestions: All cars should abide by the same laws of physics in the next game, please?

Gameplay: The cars handle great and you feel every turn and crack in the road. You can also go to your garage and showroom to see the cars you've got and haven't. If you wish you can also download more cars and content from xbox live.
Graphics: The graphics on this game are close to perfect (on the cars and on the tracks) but the showrooms and garage leave much to the imagination.

Overall: Wow. You know the one thing that completely amazed me was that I hated racing games with a PASSION before this. Seriously, I just couldn't touch them. After only half an hour of gameplay and after unlocking the Convertible cars, I was a changed man. I just can't put it down, I'm addicted to this game like no other game, I have RS3 collecting dust on the side. This game rarely leaves my tray. It takes up 90% spin-time on my Box. The graphics, breathtaking. The sounds, incredible. The gameplay, FREAKING AWESOME!

Seriously, this game has changed my belief in racing games. A perfect 5!
Gameplay: Right, so you basically have to collect Kudos points. What's Kudos points you ask? It's really a simple yet innovative idea, Kudos points symbolize how stylishly you drive. Like slides when you brake, 360's in sharp turns, grabbing air and two wheels. These things might sound unrealistic, but this games makes it look so real and feel so real you just won't notice. The controls are tight, even though they take some getting used to them and mastering the brakes. Each and every car feels completely different.

Simply put, there really aren't any good or bad cars. It's all up to you, if you a master of power slides you can take a car with high power slides and high acceleration, can't take the slides? Take one with great handling and low powerslides. Each car has it's subtle differences, and some not so subtle differences. Like I said, it's all up to your driving style. There are all sorts of 'races'. There's the regular Street Race where you just race other cars attempting to reach 1st place. There's One on One, in which you have to race only one other car. There's the Cone Challenges, in which you have to pass and slalom through cone gates and earn the highest Kudos possible. There's also the Hot Lap, Speed Camera and Timed Run. The Hot Lap is basically finishing one lap as fast as possible, while the Speed Camera is getting your MPH as high as possible while you pass through the finish line. And finally the Timed Run is that you have to pass over 1 lap in the best time possible with a countdown clock.

The reward system if phenomenal. The higher Kudos you get, the more Kudos points you get and the more you get you can rank up in Kudos and get Kudos Tokens which let you unlock other cars. Some cars cost 3, while others cost 12. But believe me, you'll get to 20 in no time if you know what to pick.
Graphics: Simply breathtaking, the lighting is just... Amazing. The road looks so real you feel like its all around you (on a bigscreen of course). The reflection on the road is dead on, and the lighting on the cars is flawless. Though sometimes you get this non-metal plasticky feeling of the road... Even though I liked it, others feel it takes away from the realism. The cars are extremely detailed and just great.
Sound: Nothing much to say here, superb soundtrack. I have nothing bad to say about it, also the screeches are veeeeeerrry rewarding!
Suggestions: Make the next one... JUST LIKE THIS!

Overall: An Ultimate racing game with awesome graphics and fun game play Everyone keeps remarking on the graphics of PGR2 but I think that the actual driving physics and 'feel' are an as good if not better than the graphics. The sound track is awesome and I'm still hearing new songs after 50+ hours.
Gameplay: As I said the game play is as good if not better than the graphics. Just crusing around in an RX-7 for hours gives enjoyment.

The variety of cars is phenominal and unlike some other racing games they all handle differently. Some personal favorite cars are: Mazda RX-7 (Best car ever), Mitsubishi 3000GT, Enzo Ferrari, GT-1, Ferrari 355F1,Delfino Feroce (which is to good to be in the super car class)and the Pontiac (just because of it's sound).

The variety of tracks makes cruising even more enjoyable from Moscows wide roads and free flowing racing to Edinburghs tight, fast and unforgiving racing.

The different racing types advance the game and it really makes you feel good if you manage to breeze through a cone challenge in ultimate class.

Just mucking around is fun, I once jumped a car in a serious race with an Enzo on the first corner of Nurburguin (No idea of the spelling) I finished the race just to look at the replay.
Graphics: The visuals of the game are spectacular with the cars looking better than the real thing (although I can't talk, I've never seen the real thing). The RX-7 is by far the best looking car with the Porche GT-1 and the Mitsubishi 3000GT in second and third. The City's look great althogh I would have liked to see Canberra in there. Racing down Anzac parade and round parliament house would have been awesome.
Sound: The sound is great with the cars sounding meaty especially the pontiac. The sound track is huge and contains a good variety of songs that for once aren't all techno like in most racing games. The custom sound track feature is good (Living End works well with racing.) and the ability to create your own collection from the Pgr2 soundtrack allows you to cut out the ones you don't like and there is still heaps of songs left over.
Suggestions: The game is almost perfect but In the future I would like to see a championship like section where you buy cars, upgrade them and race in a scheduled championship. It would be difficult to impliment this and still retain the Kudos system and I would settle for improvements to this system instead.

It seems to me that it is to easy to get more cars and maybe if you only started with one car in each series you might feel a bit more fulfilled in finishing the series. I found that I would just buy the best car in the series and then save my Kudos for the best car in the next series. I can't think of any way to stop this.

One final thing I would really like to race around Canberra in the future and I think you should consider what a variety of race tracks you could create here.

Overall: After the outstanding Metropolis Street Racer, which changed my view on driving games, and the excellent Project Gotham Racing, Bizare Creations continue the series with vast improvements in all areas, and possibly the best driving game in existance. My only gripe being the choice of cities, I feel the cities from the original game should have been left in along with the new cities.
Gameplay: Great fun, Kudos world series provides a great challenge, especially when playing for Silver challenges, or the amazingly difficult Platinum challenges. Cars handle great and playing over Xbox Live is amazingly great fun, as my entire family would tell you, all three of them almost addicted to this game.
Graphics: The graphics in this game are quite simply astounding, cars not only shine and damage realistically, but the entire cities look great, with very few graphical glithes and no slowdown even with large amounts of cars on screen.
Sound: Sounds of cars sound great, adds to the feel of the game, and the custom soundtrack future works well, with the radio option adding presenters between tracks, but sadly to me it doesn't feel to work as nicely as it did in MSR and PGR.
Suggestions: More weather conditions and maybe some more unusual cities.

Gameplay: the game in this game is very good, not arcadish at all u have to break on pretty much every turn to get speed and kudos, and kudos is everything in this game its how you unlock stuff, if you dont have them your nothing.
Graphics: visuals in this game are amazing the look like the real thing and and by far some of the best graphics i have seen on xbox and im playing on a 19" tv,so for you guys or gals with hdtv it will probally look like your playing a movie. nope nothing bad to say about the visuals and any one who dose is wrong.
Sound: I like the sound in this game they are all perfectly matched to the real life counter parts. the engines the slides, the sound of your kudos going up as you scream around a turn at over 200mph!!!!!!!! I also like the pgr2 custom soundtrack rip your own tracks or take some of there couple hunred songs the put into the game or just listen to one of the radio stations from around the world..

Overall: All I really have to say is that...

This is only the BEST RACING GAME OF ALL FREAKING TIME, OK the graphics are great, the sound is great, the game play is great,EVERYTHING IN THIS GAME IS GREAT.
Gameplay: I like the game play because its not complicated, it doesn't have all the fancy components, its just pure RACING, thats what I love about it. Its not anything to learn and its really easy to figure out. Right Trigger is go, Left Trigger is stop.

What else do you REALLY need to know?!
Graphics: The graphics are GREAT, I went to a few LA auto shows and when I went to the showroom I was amazed by how great these creators of the game made the cars. They are SO accurate its like. Amazing, I was absolutely amazed, also at the same time Microsoft took nearly 2 years to create it, but thats good. If I had to do something that complicated I would be old and cripple.

GJ Bill Gates Workers.
Sound: ...Oh My God, can you say "Vroom, Vroom." These sounds are great, they sound real if I were to hear a sound byte from the game I would think that it was a real race or something, although I don't know, ANYTHING about cars, the cars don't sound the same as the next.

If I can recall, all the sounds of the cars are different, I have never seen or played a game that had that many sound characteristics and differences.
Suggestions: The only suggestion that you have for the game is to make a bigger showroom with more cars. I was playing on xbox live and I heard that there was a content pack coming out on the store shelfs, and I hope that it was true because although the cars are GREAT they should have more of a variety.

Overall: Project Gotham Racing 2 is most def one of the best racing games of all time. the tight controls & great graphics make it a must buy for all racing fans. if u liked the first one then there shouldnt be a reason why youre not getting the 2nd one.
Gameplay: the controls are great. like the first but with minor adjustments. you shouldnt find yourself having a problem with the controls.
Graphics: since its XB only, the graphics are of course AWESOME. the cars look great & life like at points. the background sometimes needs work but also sometimes looks beautiful.
Sound: im not a sound freak, but no sound here should stop you from getting ths game.
Suggestions: thanks for making its XB live & make sure to do the same for 3. & make the racing maps larger & possibly outside. & maybe even have a cop car chasing you sometimes (yes i know thats a rip off of Need For Speed but I'd still love to see it in this game)

Overall: this is a racing game that uses both style
and speed...but for the most part, you
cant do both...its like this, you like a little
kudos, you like a little more speed...can
have some in between but not if your
racing for platinum metals...

this great game is online and is tons of
fun there...but it shines both online and
off, ive played much much much more
offline to get more kudos tokens to get
more cars

great game...a must buy for ANY race
fan...much better then original
Gameplay: this is an in your face racer, its a little
more on the arcade-y side but that the
way i like it...i personally cant stand SEGA
GT's controls...way to stiff.....its the
perfect blend between the two..

basically you have 4 modes, Kudos world
series, Arcade racing, online and instant

kudos world series is where you can
choose your own car in a series of races
per car class....once you finish
that...(which is more then a 30+ hour
expeirance) you still have tons more to
do...the arcade racing contains 3 modes-
street race, time trial, and cone
challange..each has 20 races that gives
you a car to complete each challage, thats
60 races....and o boy...that tacks on a
huge amount of time

Instant action just puts you into a game
while you pick your car..."kudos dont
count, its just for fun here" - game manual

online is just as fun...the people are real
and even more challanging...except one
thing A.I. cant cause some road
rage...this is where i think its fun :)

also there are other things you can do
besides plain races.. you can also play
different types of games... like cat and
mouse.. where each team has 1 or 2 mini
coopers while the rest are ultimate cars
like the saleen S7 or Ferrai Enzo Farrai (tee
hee) the first mini cooper/s to finish
win...while the other cars try to make the
other team finish last

Graphics: simply the best ive ever seen in any racing
game EVER! the real time reflections of the
cars while they gleem from the shining
sun above... they have so much detail....i
noticed that in the porche
can see the shadows INSIDE THE CAR! its
that amazing....

if you put the camera down in a first
person can see the amazing
bump mapped streets that are accuratly
'vibrated"... let me explain....when your on
a cobble stone road.. your controller will
shake like how your car would on it...and
it even gets faster as you test your cars
high end

the back drops are great too! tons of i dont get bored with the average
2-3 cities....

but my one complaint is that its kinda
hard to see the apex of the turn at
night....espicially when your lights get
punched out

which brings me to my next point...the
damage is the best ive have to
see it to belive it....

as i said before

Sound: I love the car sounds...except those
!&%$@#* ed ferraris and their squealing
sounds...but i think they accurately
depicted the american muscle car sound

as for the music, i rarely hear the same
song over reminds me of vice can tune into differnt radio
stations....even when you pop in a CD
(your own music tracks) they will even skip
if you catch some air or go on two wheels
and land hard

excellent overal
Suggestions: hurry up with that DLC!

i heard a whole new city is avalible...which
should add maybe 10+ hours to the whole
game....along with a whole new car lineup

maybe when the enzo ferrari gets
surpassed by a new car....we can
download it...and show those PS2 fans
why a hard drive rocks

Hard Boiled Cop
Date reviewed: January 1, 2004.

Overall: A stunning, beautiful looking game that plays extremely well. The main objective of this game is to earn kudos points by driving with style. Aggressive and defensive driving is definitely essential if you want to win because no other racers can match up to the computer AI drivers that will keep on pushing. These guys are aggressive and will try to take you out if necessary. The cars look better than before. It uses light and shadow effects as well as real time reflection. Look at the sun rays beaming on the ground and on the other cars. It is absolutely fabulous. The Kudos system has changed but thats for the better, not for the worst. One slight touch to the wall will not lose all your kudos points you generate from a slide. It will merely take out 'some' of the points, not all. This kind of new system is fantastic. You no longer have to throw your pad down or restart the race just because you touch a wall slightly. You won't lose that much points. You can even test drive the good cars without having to unlock them first. And I don't have to talk about online enabled do I? Well its great and thats what you need to know.
Gameplay: The gameplay is great. You do tend to slide of too much but thats because of the car you're using. Each and every cars handle differently so you need to use certain types of cars to complete a race without frustration. D pad and left thumbsticks act as your steering wheel. You can decide which one is best but I use the D pad. The right thumbstick moves your camera so you can see side ways and behind. You'll probably use the right thumbstick most of the time to look behind you and do some defensive driving. Try not to crash into other cars or let other cars crash into you because you will spin and you will lose like that.
Graphics: The visuals are abolutely stunning. No doubt about it but Project Gotham Racing 2 is one of the BEST and BEST looking racing game ever! The cars have real time reflection and uses lighting and shadow effects. You can just see the shadow shrouding over the cars. Its great to look at. The buildings have been modelled aswell. They're actually 3D. The sky scrapers look great as well. Its nice and shiny. Everything is detailed, the buildings and the floors. The character animation is great as well. The driver moves when he does a turn or when he crashes.
When the cars crashes, it creates dents on the bit where it crashes. And the dents created have their own shadow effects. It looks realistic as hell. Nothing can beat the details of the environment.
Sound: The sound is great as well. The tryes screeching on the floor as it makes a hard turn. The sound of a burnout is just great. The crashes sounds nigh perfect. The sound of the engines in a car all sound authentic from any angles. Thats much I have to say for the sound. Only sound of cars, crashes and MUSIC. Each country or tracks have certain types of music but if you don't like them then you can rip off some of your own soundtracks. Just click the right thumbstick and move left or right to change the track.
Suggestions: Try to make challenges more varied rather than playing the same stuff over and over again. It seems quite boring doing the same stuff. More 'fun' challenges should be added. Its repetitive playing the same stuff but in a different city.

Overall: a truely brilliant game... a gaming masterpiece... one heck of a game... ok, you get the point! this game is better than gran turismo in evry way, it is better in graphics (if there is any game that can visually match this game... please let me know about it) gran turismo is also out-classed in the cars part of the game... does gt have feraris?--- NO!does it have porche?----- NO! well you get my point, there couldnt be a better racing game availeable on xbox------- i am tempted to give this game a higher mark, but i will leave it at 4 just because i am hard to please!!
Gameplay: controls are easy to get used to, and has very smooth gameplay... multiplayer mode is very good, and ther are plenty of tracks to choose from, and the game has a very good long lasting appeal... i havnt tried this game on xbox live, well, because i dont have it... but im getting it... infact im going to get it now!

Graphics: spectacular graphics, possibly the best that you will find... i cant wait to see how they can possibly improve on these already outstanding graphics!
Sound: sound is great! the in-car radio is brilliant, and the option to copy on your own tracks is another plus! and the engines!!!!!!! wow! if you have surround sound, put it up full , get a fast car... and just listen...
Suggestions: i am not sure if it is possibal... but i would be amazed, suprised, and very pleased to see improved graphics!! i think a detailed in car view would be nice!!

Overall: I've only played the demo at my friends house. It Has Stunning Graphics, I love the cars and everything about them and the driving elements. (Kudos Rule!)
Gameplay: Best of its class allthough NFS: underground rivals it! Killer cars, love the driving, Feels like your a real racer.
Graphics: The visuals in this game make me fell like falling in love. You got graphics that make you want to rub your hands against the car just to get the silky smoth feelings the graphics give you.
Sound: Didnt really pay attention to it- but from what i got out it was great nice songs, since it was a demo coudnt put my custom soundtracks- but all in all- its all good.
Suggestions: One of the best racing games of all time- Keep the GREAT work up.

Overall: I have no idea why this game gets top reviews everywhere, its boring, slow, and has bad handling. The cars dont sound like cars at all. If I was 14 years old and just got my first racing game EVER, this game might have been entertaining for a day or Colin McRae or any other good racing game, this is a waste of money.
Gameplay: The gameplay is like taken out of an old arcade game from the 90's. When you are driving the "car", even the smallest and fastest cars turns and acts like a huge truck. In every turn you have to use your handbrake, or you will 100% surely bump into the wall. The modes and different cars feel exactly the same - slow and repetative. (I have mastered this game, and win over 50% of the games I play live)
Graphics: PGR2 looks beutiful, (like all Xbox games) except every "city" you race in is dead...feels like driving around looking at pictures of a city. Weather effects look great, blah blah blah, if you love a game for the graphics alone, you can stop the car (since its no fun anyway) and just look at the fine graphics.
Sound: The sound would be ok if they made the cars sound like cars..and not mixmasters. Even the ferrari sounds like some toy, what were they thinking? The music is ok, nothing special.
Suggestions: Next time, make a good game instead. I have no idea how you managed to hype this game so much, but nice that you are rich, why dont you start working on a quality game? Try copying codemaster or EA, good luck..

Overall: Project Gotham Racing 2 is a must have for any racing fan who has an Xbox. There are many modes to keep you busy and the graphics are absolutely gorgeous. You will feel like you tearing up the streets of D.C. in your Ferrari or blazing around corners in your 68 Camaro.
Gameplay: The gameplay is great. Every car has different handling and their own damage. While it doesn't affect your cars performance you will want to keep your car in pristine condition to get that Kudos bonus. Speaking of Kudos, the Kudos system has been refined to near perfection this time around. I don't have Xbox Live so I cant pass judgement on that aspect of the game. The ability to walk around the showroom and your garage is a great touch but I wish the look could be inverted. Oh, and the Geometry Wars mini-game is great too!
Graphics: These are some of the best graphics I have ever seen. The curves of all the cars are captured perfectly and the different race locations are immensely detailed. The only gripes I have here are that when the smoke first comes off of your spinning tires it looks a bit weird. Also, im not sure if this should be in graphics but, The 68 Camaro's grille and turn signals were rendered wrong. The turn signals in the grille were rendered as headlights and the grille is just horribly wrong.
Sound: The sound is great. Most cars have their own unique sound from the throaty V8's of the 60's muscle cars to the high pitched revs of an Italian supercar. There are a lot of built in music tracks but most I have never heard of. The ability to use your own music is a definate plus.
Suggestions: The only thing I could suggest is to put more research into the cars. By this I am refering to the incorrect rendering of the 68 Camaro. Other than that keep up the good work.

Overall: Really bad game. It has bad turning and you can't go fast at all. This isn't mentioning that the graphics are worse then the original. (And the original had some of the worst graphics on the system.)
Gameplay: This is probobaly the worst part. And thats saying a lot if I conider it worse than the graphics. There is no gameplay, all you do is hold down the trigger and use the thumbstick. (Unlike the NFS gtames where you have cop chases.)
Graphics: The graphics are probaly proud to call XIII graphics more realistic. (XIII is cel shaded) Also the courses look like they cam out of a 1990 game.
Sound: I don't know much about sound but i'm indifferent when it comes to PGR2. Although there are nice sound effects.

Overall: A racing game that finally sims in the best way possible; just the right amount of accuracy to maintain but not smother its fun factor. I purchased a wheel for this game. I never liked racing games, too repetitive. I like this game. I always drive inside the vehicle, and as soon as I began a track I could tell whether I was driving a FWD, RWD or AWD auto. Its not like many similar racers where the best cars go faster, accelerate better and turn more accurately; each car has a unique feel, lending to the impression of accuracy, to make you think that it is an accurate representation of what it would be like to be in, say, an audi RS6 (avant for some reason in this game).
Gameplay: Fun. Takes while to learn when to brake, how to use powerslides or do perfect turns, to learn the car you're driving, etc. The single player game is all I have done so far, to build up my car collection. The Kudos World Series is a good system, queueing up a list of genres of cars for you to work your way through, from the lower end sporty coupes to the 'Ultimate' genre, each has a number of cars (and rumor is that they are adding an entire new genre with a content DL, along with new CITIES - if true, the greatest DL done so far). Very fun game, and cars are very good looking. Even if not yet into cars, this will probably get you into them. Live integration is cool, but I think slightly overhyped. Definately great to have your scores compared to those online, and be able to race the top ghosts, but nothing to buy the game over... get it for the huge number of cars, the showroom (walk around a car dealer and testdrive/buy one of the many inside to add it to your garage of cars), the many many cities/locations (and each city has numerous routs and weather settings and landmarks) and the intense simulation experience - I drive differently now after playing this game.
Graphics: Good for a racer; it is less impressive from inside the car, however, and that is a slight issue for me because that is the best view in my opinion. However, your car and others all sport nice reflection and damage, and the roads - wet or dry - give no sense of anything but reality. I am a fan of lighting though; some cool night races with florecent lights or brights etc on cars would've added much to the atmosphere. Rain was great. Cars are great.
Sound: Good engine sounds, and can play own tracks. Haven't listened to game music much though, because of this feature, so I will give it a 5 because I cannot rate it acurately, and don't want to lower its scores. (My entire system - I gave slightly higher scores to maintain good average). This is truly the best racer ever.
Suggestions: Lights/atmosphere. Show some devotion to the content DLs and get a few of the 'live' rooms in showroom filled; prove to us the Devs dont just put on the sticker. Uhm. Rethink the stats on the Lancer Evo and WRX STi - with a 5.0 and 4.7 zero to sixty times, consecutively, they outperform a great number of porche's that had uber (= 'above' auf Deutch) stats in this game. RS6 Avant? wierd. Uhm. Mess around with a few fantasy or completely extravagant vehicles perhaps. Maybe snow... What else... with games as near immpecable as these, it is only possible to suggest features that would make it even more attractive. Perhaps car customization. Track customization wouldn't be hard (make your own routes). Hmmm. Make a cruise area? Like a city with traffic etc to just drive around in one of your cars... That all.

Overall: This game has style. Big, bold and beautiful. The level of realism simply sucks you in the moment you power on. Truly a unique experience in a genre full of clones and carbon copies.
Gameplay: Fantastic controls. kudos system works great and adds so much if you don't let it frustrate you from the beginning... don't worry about racking them up, just learn to drive first. this game does have a relatively steep learning curve. xbox live features should set the standard for all future games.
Graphics: flawless. i'm in awe. close to photo-realism. environments are gorgeous, reflections on cars are too sweet, and the fluidity of the animation is great. no slow-downs anywhere.
Sound: what can i say? great sounds. no complaints... well, just one. bouncing off the guardrails produces an annoying 'boing.' this is the only problem i have with the game, that is how close to perfection pgr2 comes.
Suggestions: just get rid of the boings, and add more cars to download.

Overall: Project Gotham Racing 2, the second installment of the series on Xbox (there was MSR on Dreamcast, though). The sequel includes over 100 cars, more cities, a more balanced Kudos system, a fantastic single player, and perhaps the most important, Xbox Live.
Gameplay: One of the worst things about PGR1 is that you'll have a huge combo going, then all of a sudden, you'll just barley nip the wall, and you can kiss your kudos goodbye. Well, these days you won't have to worry about that. The kudos system is not only more generous this time, it's a lot more fun. You can get kudos by overtaking people, sliding, drafting, getting air, pulling a two wheeler, and plenty of other ways. There is a garage, that lets you walk around in a large room, showing all of you cars. There is another garage type thing, but it's called the showroom. It lets you walk around to every car in the game (they are all in seperate rooms, seperated by their maker. ex. all the ford cars are in the "Ford" room.) You can test drive all the cars in the showroom, too. Also, there is fantastic Xbox Live play. Up to 8 players in each race, and plenty of opportunities to gain kudos to make your rank go higher. You can race every map online that you can race offline. The host can make it rain, be a sunny day, or even make an outcast ski. The host of a room can also make everyone race in a certain series, or even a certain car. For people looking for a total simulation, you'll most likely be disappointed. If you're looking for a total arcade racer, you'll be disspointed. Project Gotham Racing 2 is a perfect balance between the both simulation and arcade, which in my opinion, makes this game superb.
Graphics: Awesome. The graphics are just... awesome. Everything from refletions, to textures, to car models look spot on. The envoirments are decent, but can get boring after a while. People will complain about the 30 frames per second, but it's not that noticable, if you ask me. Overall the graphics are fantastic, and only degraded by the dull envoirments and 30 frames per second.
Sound: When playing with certain cars, you'll rev up your engine, just to hear it. That's how good it sounds. The car engines are simply some of the best, and you know that when you hear your car rev up like it's a killer. It's fun hearing your car scretching when you nail on the breaks. The sound effects by themself make the sound awesome. The soundtrack is also very good. The soundtrack has a "radio" option that you can turn on different stations while driving. Say you're in Hong Kong, you'll hear Hong Kong music while driving, and such. Although the soundtrack is superb on it's own, nothing beats custom soundtracks!
Suggestions: Give us some DLC! Though the cars are great, it would be even awesomer to see some mclaren f1s, and some Lamborghinis! Oh yeah, and make PGR3! Other than that, great game, I love it.

Overall: This game truly lived up to the hype. Awesome graphics with great gameplay. Alot of cars to unlock and alot of cities to race in
Gameplay: Each car handles in different ways. Handling a ferrairi isnt as easy as handling a volkwagon. Theres about six major cities in the game, with alot of different places to race in. Theres a big selection of cars to pick. XBOX LIVE
Graphics: The game puts you right into the car with its awesome graphics. The cities look real and the cars look like the real deal. Add th graphics with the game play and you have yourself an Extremily great game.
Sound: Theres custom soundtrack. In addition to that theres over 150 songs already in the game. Cars have the sound of there real counterparts also.
