Outlaw Golf: 9 Holes of X-Mas Staff Review
"I've had this one for a bit, but never thought of reviewing it because I always thought of it as a demo. First off, I love the full version Outlaw Golf game and gave it a 5 out of 5 (lots of challenges, modes, equipment, and characters). But, the 9 Holes Of Xmas is not near the game that the full version is."

Overall: Outlaw Golf: 9 Holes of Xmas is an Outlaw Golf demo with 9 new holes to play on. It is a decent demo, although the quality is steeply lowered from the original gameplay. But I'm sure noone was expecting a masterpiece for five U.S. dollars.
Gameplay: As I previously stated, the quality of gameplay is definatly lowered from the original Outlaw Golf. In this demo you have two players to choose from. Harley, and Killer Miller. No unlocking characters or clubs is nessacery, considering it is only a demo. There are nine holes to play on, all in a festive environment. Being Outlaw Volleyball, you of course can beat the crap out of you caddie. The caddie just so happens to be good ole St. Nick in this game. I'm not a huge fan of the fighting system in any of the 'Outlaw' games from Simon & Schuster. It works by pressing the action button whenever the meter reaches a certain point, until eventually you can knock out the caddie.
Graphics: This game is quite different from the original in terms of graphics. You are surrounded by elves, snow, and ice. The graphics aren't quite up to par with the original, but they are satisfactory enough for five dollars.
Sound: The sounds, music and everything is just plain annoying in this game. Elves laugh at you when you swing, and the festive music ends up driving you crazy before you finish all nine holes. But other than that, the sound is fine.
Suggestions: Stick to the real games. :D

Overall: For five dollars, this game rocks! I bought it about a year ago and played it once and tossed it aside for some Splinter Cell stealth action. I just recently started playing it again with my wife when we were both home sick for a few days and got hooked on it. Its fun and definitely worth the five bucks I paid for it.
Gameplay: Just like Outlaw golf except in a snowy winterland with elves laughing at your mistakes and Santa crossing the sky every once and while. There are only 9 holes total but they are fun. There only two characters to choose from, Harley and Killer Miller but a good selection of clubs are available. The controls have a good setup. My main gripe is putting can be a pain the rear figuring out the how hard to hit it but I guess thats part of golf.
Graphics: The courses look great with a good amount of detail but not much motion going on in the background with the exception of Santa or occasional plane flying overhead. Harley and Killer are well animated. The elves (spectators) aren't real detailed but move out of your way screaming when you aim their way.
Sound: The commentator is fairly funny as with the other Outlaw games but gets old real and extremely annoying if your having a difficult time. The voice acting for the characters and their caddys are well done.
Suggestions: Its more than I expected for five bucks.

Overall: This is a snowy version of the same old Outlaw Golf.
Gameplay: Same as OG but there are 2 characters. All clubs are available from the start.
Graphics: It's harder to see the ball. I like the snow effects and the breath effects.
Sound: annoying this time, very annoying music.

Overall: A fun game, particularly if you don't have
the full retail version and want to see
what Outlaw Golf is all about (but aren't
willing to cough up $50). At $5 you can't
go wrong, but this game is sub-par
compared with the full game. Only nine
holes, only two characters, and
unpolished graphics make it good... but
not exactly great like the real Outlaw Golf
is.
Gameplay: Gameplay is as good as ever. You can
still beat your caddy, all the clubs and
balls are unlocked, and all the various
camera angles, etc. are there just like in
the full game. One bummer, however, is
that you can't save scores, stats, games,
etc. to the hard drive in this version. You
simply play, and then all history of your
effort is gone forever...
Graphics: Visually, you can tell this game was
hustled out the door. Compared to the
full retail Outlaw Golf, this is visually a bit
sub-par. The framerate is noticeably
more choppy, and things appear more
jaggy on screen to boot. Also, you can
only choose between two outfits for each
of the two players. Plus, there's no
Summer and Autumn, so it automatically
loses a point right there for visual
appeal...
Sound: I miss hearing Scrummy and Summer
and El Suave explain each hole on the
flyby. In this game only the announcer
ever narrates, and while it's funny it's not
quite as good as the variety of voices in
the original. Sound effects themselves
are very much like the full game, which is
to say well done.
Suggestions: A little more polish in the graphics
department is the only glaring issue,
although more players would also be
nice. Also, why can't we save games
and stats? But for only $5 no one can
really complain...
