Dead or Alive 3

Overall: Fighting games have never had much appeal to me...until I played DOA3. It also makes a great demo title for your friends who have never seen XBox in action. Everyone who owns an XBox needs to buy this title.

Gameplay: It's a fighting game. Don't look for a lot of depth here, even in single player "story" mode. But it if pounding the crap out of your opponent Hong-Kong-style is your cup 'o tea you can't go wrong with DOA3.

Team Ninja deserves high praise for maximizing the usability of the standard XBox controller. It's easy for a novice to pick up a controller for the first time and still kick some major butt. More experienced players will enjoy the variety of attacks (and counter attacks) possible through combos.

Graphics: I'll admit that I bought DOA3 because the graphics were irresistable. The level of detail is stunning. The variety of locations is both imaginative and credible. The "arenas" are 3D environments that look like they could actually exist. Some elements are destructable.

I particularly like the multiple planes on some of the levels. For example, you can fight on the top of a plateau and throw your opponent off the top and down to another plateau below, where the fighting continues. Or you throw someone through a window and the fight contnues on the roof.

There is also a true arena where you can fight cage-match style. Play this level in sparring mode sometime and get a good look at those guys jumping around in the background. They give me the willies!

Audio: The sound effects are cinematic, meaning they sound like we're used to hearing them in the movies. The music is good and doesn't distract me or get annoying.

This game does not support the XBox feature of selecting your own soundtrack. That is too bad because all games should allow that.

Suggestions: When are we going to see a Wire-Fu fighting title in the spirit of "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon?"

Overall Score: 8.0 / 10

Xbox One Reveal may have teased actual games

Xbox One Reveal may have teased actual gamesThe most consistent complaint about the Xbox One Reveal is that Microsoft didn’t show enough games, but for one fleeting moment during the show, an image of the Xbox One HUD may have let a total of 8 games slip. Let the E3 2013 speculation begin!

GameStop: Xbox One will cost less than Xbox 360

GameStop: Xbox One will cost less than Xbox 360The above prediction might seem ludicrous, until you remember that the Xbox 360 launched in 2005 with two different SKUs, with the 20GB Premium model costing $399.99, and it would have cost hundreds more if you added the wifi adapter and the Kinect!

Google fails to block U.S. Xbox 360 sales Believe it or not, Microsoft and Google are not exactly the best of friends, and it’s not because the Xbox 360’s default search engine is Bing. For those of you who may have forgotten, Microsoft and Google have a case before the courts.
