Overall: Before I rented it, I thought it would be great... I realy loves Max Payne, so I figured I would like this one too... WRONG! I played for about 45 minutes before I called the video store to ask for a refund or exchange!!!Gameplay: This is the part that was crap: I couldn't work with the controls, and there's no way to change the configuration! I don't like to have to AIM with a button, and I prefer to SHOOT with the TRIGGER! Also, you can't reverse while shooting: when you pull on the left thumbstick to backtrack, the character TURNS AROUND! Just plain stupid... And if you want him to look to the right, you have to move the right thumbstick LEFT! (duh)
Another thing: the "bullet time" was so slow, I thought the game was on "pause", and he only does it in ONE direction (forward), not like in Max Payne, which is much more flexible...
The only good things were the ability to disarm opponents and to shield yourself with either a wall (put your back to it and shoot from the corner) or an opponent (human shield). Sadly, all of that is useless if the controls are so crappy you don't even want to play the game...
Of course, if you don't mind cursing a bit and are patient enough to actualy EVENTUALY get used to the controls, you may like the game.
Graphics: The graphics werent bad, but nothing extraordinary. I would say they were average... I've seen much better graphics in other games, but it was still OK.
Audio: I realy didn't pay much attention to the sound, but if it didn't annoy me in any way, I guess it wasn' bad, but it didn't impress me either...
I'd say it was average.
Suggestions: Please, PLEASE think of the poor people who have to cope with shoddy control settings... At least give us the chance to reconfigure the controls so we actualy WANT to play.
Also let us inverse vertical AND horizontal aim, and make the character BACKTRACK: if we want to turn, we'll use the "look" thumbstick.
Oh yeah, and the camera angle was funny... maybe just a bit too close to him, or something like that...
