Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon
Overall: If you are a fan of realism and games that specalize in simulation, and make you feel like your right in the middle of action, Ghost Recon is going to be right up your Scope. This game literally screams with gargantuan, glorious appeal. The only thing that might make people shy away from this game as that it might be to close to realism. This is not a Halo frag fest, but a game that involves stealth, tactics and collaboration with you team.
Gameplay: At first it takes just a few minutes to get used to gun swapping and character swapping. Character control is just like Halo, incorporating both of the analog thumbsticks, so for 95% percent of people, getting around in this game should not be a problem.
Now to the actual game. When you first start up you have to select a Dossier which in layman terms is your profile. Here is where all your stats will be stored along with your rankings and mission Achievements. Once that's done, now is the time to play. First this does have a great training level that will show you how to operate the basic weapon controls, and especially the squad commands. Learn how to control the squads and the game will be more enjoyable for you. After you get done with this go to a quick mission.
This is where the gameplay appeal comes in... Here you have 50 quick missions with which you can embark upon, with each mission being played in 3 different styles; Mission, Firefight and Recon. Each different style of gameplay adding a new twist into which the game can be played. The then after selecting the map, and the skill level and then selecting which type of mission he wants to go on then can allow the computer to select both his Alpha squad and Bravo squad with 3 men on each squad. A nice option that the game gives you is that you don't have to take six men with you. If you feel adventourous and feel like you could take on the world, you can tackle a mission with just one man. A lot of nice options. Then there is also the campaign that is even bigger and better than the quick missions. This is where the simulations come into play in the game.
Here's a question that some people are asking, "Since I don't or will not or can not get Xbox Live, is the single player game strong enough to justify the purchase. YES!!!! YES!!!! YES!!!! I myself will not be able to get XBL as of right now. But I have found the single player aspect of the game to be very appealing and exciting and very worth buying. This game is now on my top 3 games to buy along with Splinter Cell and FIFA 2003. Buy this game.
Graphics: Graphics, character animations and environments are rendered with great detail. I rented this game along with Medal of Honor from EA games and will have to say that Medal of Honor looks like a N64 game. There is no comparison. In fact I have not picked up Medal of Honor since play Ghost Recon. Everything is great about the graphics. I have no legitimate complaints.
Audio: The sound and music are great as well. Being able to hear the enemy from a distance and knowing where they are without seeing them is a plus. There is a dog barking in one of the missions and it sounds like this thing is biting at your heals. The musical score has great arrangements and sets the tone for the game.
Overall Score: 9.0 / 10
