Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball

Overall: DOAXVB gets two BIG thumbs up from me! It has it all, great gameplay, sparkling visuals, and an immersive environment. The game is a little different than you may expect. You pick one of the DOA girls and spend a 14 day vacation on Zack Island. You can lounge around, shop (for all sorts of accessories that you can wear or give away), play volleyball, go to the casino, or play a mini game (pool jumping). It is really a unique game and you can spend your time on the island as you see fit. If your expecting a straight up volleyball game, than you may want to look elsewhere. But if you like original games, then this is for you.

Gameplay: It took me a bit to really fall in love with the volleyball system, but after a few hours it became second nature and was a lot better than my initial opinion. It also takes a bit to figure out what each girl likes as a present, but I found a lot of hints at the casino (just check out each girls slot machine - christie likes guns, helena shells and dolphins, etc...) Overall good. I knocked it down a half a point because you can't jump sometimes when you would like to spike the ball instead of set it.

Graphics: Wowza! This game literally had my jaw on the floor. You have to see it for yourself. Pretty girls, and pretty scenery.

Audio: This can be summed up in one word - custom soundtrack!!! Ok, that's two words, but the sounds are great, and it does what every game should in letting you use your ripped music on the Xbox hard drive.

Suggestions: The game is really good, but there are a few things I would like to see. Mainly, I like the casino, but it's very unpersonal. You never actually see your character in the casino. Another thing, the "camera" mode lasts only a few seconds, but takes up half the day. As a few others stated, this should be a four player game. But, those are all pretty minor gripes to an otherwise flawless game. Can't wait for DOA4!!!

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10
Quantum Redshift

Overall: I picked up Quantum Redshift because it was a cheap title (under $20), and found that it was a pleasant surprise. The racing delivers with a real sense of speed and the graphics are solid. Plenty of unlockable tracks, weapons, and characters keep it interesting. It's not perfect, but overall a decent racing game.

Gameplay: It's easy to pick up and play, but does get tough as you progress through the levels. It gets frustratingly hard as you get nearer to the Redshift level.

Graphics: The graphics were better than I expected. The tracks and scenery was solid. It's nothing that will drop your jaw, but it definately does the trick.

Audio: I like that everybody speaks in their native tongue, and that the countdowns are done in the language of the respective countries. You can use your custom soundtrack which was also good. Explosions and weapon fire was also done well.

Suggestions: It would be nice to be able to have characters switch vehicles. The plot lines for each character were a little cheesy.

Overall Score: 9.0 / 10
Whacked!

Overall: Overall Whacked is a very fun game. I enjoyed single player mode and have cleared it with nearly all the characters. The movies are really, really funny as are the commercials that they show after each round. I also enjoy playing on Xbox live. I love the selection of levels, weapons, and well defined characters. It is not without it's flaws, but overall I loved the game and give it a 5 out of 5 for it's great sense of humor and enjoyable gameplay. A side note, I found the full version to be far more fun then the demo version that I started out on, and don't think it's fair to rate the game unless you've played the full game.

Gameplay: Very simple controls, and doesn't take to long to learn. It has a lot of different modes, levels, weapons, and characters.

Graphics: Good visuals. There is a lot of extra details in a lot of the levels. I liked reading all the things on the boxes in "Jeffries Kitchen" level. The characters are well defined, and the movies are really well done.

Audio: The explosions and weapons sounds are very good. The music is so-so. This is a game that should have had the custom soundtrack. Being a Microsoft game, I wonder why they didn't include that option?

Suggestions: Let us use music that was ripped on the hard drive.
