Overall: My impressions from MLB 2K8
As I’ve come accustomed to the new controls this year I’m liking it more. Pitching is definitely interesting….and more fun once you get the hang of it. It’s not nearly as easy to paint the corners as in previous games I’ve played. It takes actual practice and technique….and knowledge of how the different pitches move. Batting is pretty good. It’s all about timing. They took out power swing and contact swing options, so it’s actually just your timing and how and when you hit the ball. So that’s pretty sweet I guess. Also, they’ve made fielding and baserunning better. To throw to a base you just use the right analog stick. Up for second, right for third and so on. Or you can hold down RB for the OF to immediately throw to the cutoff man, and then hold down one of the traditional base buttons for an immediate throw from the cutoff man. Base running isn’t so much a guessing game any more. Again, you have to get the hang of it, but once you do you can easily choose which runner you want to move without moving all of them. You can also tell him…say for instance if he’s rounding 1st to go for 3rd. You don’t have to wait for him to get to 2nd to tell him to keep running. Or if a man is on second you tell him to go home right away without having the batter necessarily run advance to 2nd….since if the opposition is smart enough they’ll cut you off and you’re out there.
ANYWAYS….like I said as I’m getting the hang of the controls I’m liking it more. There is definitely a learning curve.
However, my one gripe so far is an inexplicable flaw for a finished product. The framerate is trash. Often times it will slow to @!%#*! near a crawl and get choppy. There is no excuse for this, and takes some of the fun out of playing it. HOPEFULLY, they patch it soon

NCAA Football 2005
Overall: Great game a few negatives aside. I would have given this game a 4.5 overall, but the EA servers brought it down to 4. I'll explain more in the gameplay section.
Gameplay: The gameplay itself has few problems. Some say passing is to hard, but they're usually just not good at it. There are a number of dropped balls, but this is college. These guys are not professionals....they're amateurs. They drop more passes than guys getting millions in the pros. You can tell right away this years version is tougher than 2004 and will take more thought to pull off a victory.
Of course xbl increases the fun 1000 times. I've only played one game in dynasty mode, just having to much fun online. There is some slow down on the EA servers sometimes which is the main negative i've seen so far. Especially on field goals, punts, kicks. If it lags at that time then your timing will be thrown off and you'll miss the field goal, extra point or punt/kick it out of bounds.
Graphics: The visuals are pretty much the same as last year. New celebrations, less penalties for using them and more oppurtunities to use them. The crowd looks better as well.
Audio: Sound is fantastic. If a stadium is tough to play in in real life then it will be tough in this game. The crowd goes crazy. The screen will shake, your controller will vibrate. DON'T CHOKE!!!
Suggestions: EA, FIX THE SLOW DOWNS/LAG ON YOUR SERVER. THIS IS YOUR MAIN PROBLEM. Other than that great game.
