Jet Set Radio Future

Overall: This is a fantastic game. Gameplay is GREAT. Sound is quite good. If you take the time to really plan and explore the game it will eat a considerably amount of time but it is FUN and WORTH IT, in my opinion.

Gameplay: This game is a BLAST. I don't miss the old grafitti system AT ALL, I think the new one works JUST FINE, makes the game flow NICELY. The removal of time limit is great, more time to explore, do tricks, and check out the IMMENSE "levels" (look for those Grafitti Souls and Tapes). Control is great, VERY much like JGR but I think it controls even a little better. The "boost" feature is nice and the visual effect is very cool. Grinding up poles and stuff is VERY cool. The extra "trick" button and "skate backwards" button are very cool. In air/rail tricks and combos are a GREAT and welcome addition. Camera: people are dogging the game for the camera and yes, it has the SAME camera issues that existed in JGR; no better and no worse. If you played JGR and got used to the camera in that game you will be used to it in JSRF. Ocassionally with your back up to something you press the Left trigger to focus the camera you get a screenfull of black, a bit annoying, BUT that being known can be dealt with. The game is more "flowing" than JGR, you aren't constantly popping in and out of the skating world -- you are pretty much always in it. If you want to save you have to skate back to the garage and talk to the Robot OR there are save points in EVERY level (which also let you switch skaters). VERY handy, VERY nice, GREAT addition. The levels must be seen to be believed.

Graphics: Graphics are awesome, truely a notch above Jet Grind Radio -- and JGR had some great graphics. The cel shading is top notch. I knock down 1/2 a point for the ocassinal camera problems.

Audio: Sounds is fantastic -- if you played JGR it is more of the same kind great music. Music works well. The game says there are 30 tracks but being a fair bit through the game I am not really sure I have heard 30. Some of the songs get a little old but high quality. It think the only real improvements would have been (1) press a bunch to change songs ala Amped and (2) custom soundtracks. I knock down a point for no custom soundtracks and not really hearing 30 different songs and finally the characters vocabulariy is LIMITED (hearing HO, and HA OVER AND OVER gets a little old).

Suggestions: Custom soundtracks. Button to switch to the next song if one comes up that you don't like. I think there are 30 songs but I sure don't think I hear 30 of them in the rotation. Ability to quit back to the main menu. Fix the camera, especially if your back is against the wall.

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 SSX Tricky

Overall: This is an incredibly fun game with both one and two players. Highly recommended to anyone who loves adreneline, speed, and watching fantastic tricks. I wish there was an Overall rating of 4.8 because I think 5.0 is a touch too high but 4.5 too low... See my suggestions to the developer for my major complaints.

Gameplay: Gameplay is, overall, fantastic. It seems in the trick trainer that sometimes I do exactly what it says and I do a different trick, but I am sure that was my fault. One player Tricky is awesome (both racing and showing off), lots of fun. It does take some dedication to unlock the tracks and the like, but it is rewarding. Two player Tricky is equally a blast, if you have friends invite them over for some racing (especially Merquery City and subsequent tracks).

Graphics: Visually, this game is a stunner. Very ocassionally there are a few slowdowns but they haven't hurt the game for me. In two player I ocassionaly see some distance draw in, but only if you are really watching (haven't seen it in single player). I wish there was an option in two player to split top/bottom instead of left/right as often with the existing split screen you cannot see enough left to right in two player.

Audio: Sound is really great, music is great. My complaint is that I cannot add in my own music (like I do with Amped). Voice acting is great.

Suggestions: Great Game. Add option for left/right split screen instead of only top/bottom. Ability to play my own music in the game. Smoother difficulty progression in the 3 races in Race mode would be nice (first two races much easier than the third).

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10
