Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Overall: This game far exceeded my expectations, If I could sum the game up in one word, it would be "fun". This is a game you'll play not because you just spent $50(US) to $75(Can) on it, but because the gameplay will compel you back. I'm not a fan of the "Buffy" series, in fact, I've only seen bits and pieces of the show, so when I say "this game is solid", it's not a biased opinion.
Gameplay: The game to me is one part Dead or Alive 3 and one part Hunter (in single mode), there's plenty of cool one-on-one combat style fighting as well as some hack-and-slash elements.
Graphics: Could have been better, but still is impressive. Some of the character models from the cut scenes look like they were ported over from a PC. This is the only flaw in the game that I have encountered thus far (and a very small one)
Audio: Sound is A-1, I haven't played it through my home system yet, however, it still sounds excellent through my TV speakers.
Suggestions: If it's possible to do without sacrificing game smoothness, improve the graphics.
Overall Score: 9.0 / 10 Rallisport Challenge
Overall: Racing on dirt, ice, mud, snow, gravel and pavement with tons of cars on tons of tracks. This is a no-brainer. I'm not a big fan of rally racing (the last one I owned was Sega GT for the Saturn) but it's hard to ignore this title. I love it!
Gameplay: Some folks have knocked this title for being too arcade-like and not simulation enough. I personally bought my Xbox to play arcade games and although the sims are nice too, this game made me forget about simulations. Smooth fluid controls which are perfectly responsive. (I'm sure if you played this with a wheel you'd feel just like you were in a real rally)Plenty of cars and tracks to unlock. Lots of different modes to keep you interested for a long time. Totally solid!
Graphics: Oh my God!!!, reflection mapped cars, bump mapped icy roads that reflect the sun completly life-like.Animated sideline fans. In my opininon this game has better visuals than Wreckless. The cars look perfect. As a matter of fact i'm going to nit-pick and say that the only visual flaw with this game is that the fan's arms are way too long for their bodies.Ha!
Audio: RSC comes with some tunes that are...well OK I guess, but it totally redeems itself by letting you import your own tunes into the game (Fuel by Mettalica never sounded better!)
Suggestions: Maybe include a "design your own tracks" option, other than that awesome effort!
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 WWF Raw
Overall: Wrestling fans rejoice!, THQ's first kick at the cat in wrestling for the XBox is a hit. Though the game may not be as deep as others, it will still keep you occupied for hours on end.
Gameplay: I held off buying this game 'til I read some of the reviews here and although the reviews were mixed, I bought it anyway. I literally played it for four days straight and after owning it for over two weeks, I still regularly play it. Easy to learn controls which are the same for every wrestler makes gameplay fun and easy. The create a wrestler option kicks butt (so many options). I personally like the voltage meter and find it quite easy to get the hang of.
Graphics: Without equal!!...this game definately blurs the line between reality and fantasy. There are times when i'm playing that I forget that i'm playing and think i'm watching TV.
Audio: OK, so the game needs a little work here...it's been said so many times before and needs to be said again, maybe play by play announcing would work better than the music during the matches...'nuff said!
Suggestions: Career mode perhaps, play by play commentating, more wrestlers. Other than that - a solid first try.
Overall Score: 9.0 / 10 Dead or Alive 3
Overall: For those who like fighting games and for those who like the eye candy, this will certainly appeal to you.
Gameplay: Smooth and responsive controls, when I played it for the first time, it looked like I knew what I was doing, when I was just mashing buttons. Easy learning curve.
Graphics: By far the most spectacular game I have ever seen for any home console or PC. I consider myself to be jaded when it comes to video games, but I was staring at the screen in amazement when I first played the game. I still can't get over the mountain level. Awesome graphics to say the least!
Audio: I'm not a huge Aerosmith fan but they're OK, other than that I guess the music is all right - I don't really notice it when i'm in the thick of the game.
Suggestions: Possibly more characters, more hidden stuff and a more difficult story mode.
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10
