Hunter: The Reckoning
Overall: Turn of the lights, turn up the volume and get ride for one hell of a ride. Hunter: The Reckoning delivers, plain and simple. A very atmospheric game with emphasis on gameplay and mood. It draws you in and keeps you prisoner for several hours at a time.
Gameplay: I found the gameplay to be very easy to get used to. The learning curve is extremely short if you are used to playing games like Oddworld, Gauntlet and other overhead 3D games.
The camera is not adjustable and can sometimes leave you in a position where your character is behind a structure and visible on screen. This is not a big deal, but can be a little annoying in a single player game. Multiplayer games like Hunter don't normally have a controllable camera, so this is not really a major problem with me.
Graphics: The visuals in Hunter are awesome. Textures are highly detailed and crisp even when zoomed completely in. The special effects for edges are well done and weapons look very realistic. Little things like moths flying around street lamps and dead enemies turning to mist show the developers attention to detail.
Audio: Just like any really good horror movie, sound is a very important part of a horror-genre game. Game developers are making games become more movie-like and Hunter is no exception. Crank up the stereo, the sound in Hunter is exquisite. You really want to play games like this on a nice home theatre system to get the full Hunter experience. Blood curtling screams will cause you to jump out of your skin, creature groans will send chills up your spine, and the atmospheric soundtrack will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Suggestions: Hunter: The Reckoning is an amazing experience that any fan of action/horror games will love. A feature to move the camera(especially in a single player game) would have be nice. Great job!
