Halo: Combat Evolved
Overall: Okay this is SirSmack from XBC. The 20+ hours thing is completely off. It's alot more like 200+ hours. I play this on average for 2 hours a day since I got it on November 10th. (Yes that's right I got it early...hehe.) The overall apeal of this game as you may be able to tell from what I just said is amazing! I beat the Legendary mode right off the bat. The controls were a little weird for me, but hey you can customize them! You can customize EVERYTHING on this game! The look sensittivity, the control style, the buttons...wow what a great game. I also love the cars in it. Nothing is more fun then having an online Hog-War on XBC. For those of you who dont know thas where you have 4 ppl with hogs and you crash into eachother and go FLYING! Man I play this game everyday after school for like 2 hours as I said. Pathetic isnt it? If you have the game and online capabilities you know what I'm talking about. It's so !&%$@#* addicting.Gameplay: Gameplay appeal? So that would mean like the controls? As I said before you can customize them if you want to. The gameplay of campaign is great. Especially with a friend. After beating it you can go through levels and flank the aliens and storm them with a friend. That is quite fun. I like shooting the marines and listening to them scream in agony and they are getting bullets flying through their head. On Legendary mode the marines will cuss you out if you do something bad to them. Hehe. The aliens are quite funny too, however I wish there was more I enjoyed them. They are fun to chase down and throw plas nades on. You can use their weapons too...that was very cool when I found that out.
Graphics: WOW! I just wish I had a plasma TV to fully appreciate it. I've seen screens my friends have taken on plasma TVs and I've played on HDTV with this game...good god Bungie I love you. Nothing has ever had this much visually grace. Think back to the days of N64 and Goldeneye. Me and my friends used to spend hours playing that game as we do now with Halo. I recently found it again, started it up and said " !&%$@#* ". The graphics on that are horrible. And then people who use PS2 and GayCube want to diss on Halo and how the graphix suck. The only problem I have seen with it is no antialaiasing if that is how you spell it. But man the textures and then effects when you shoot a car way into the air are so realistic. I have found a few flaws with the graphics...such as being able to shoot through walls in multiplayer...but that makes the game fun. I love this game.
Audio: HOOWIEE!!!! I recently connected my xbox up to my sterio system cuz i got the cables I needed. You need a sterio to fully appreciate it. You can hear every little detail, right down to the Master Chief's heart beating when he's hurt. Now THAT is some good sound effects. Also, go through a cave and start shooting. You hear that? THAT'S an echo. Hear your enemy's shot ring out accross Blood Gulch and chase after him. Then you hear the rumble of an engine as he hops in a tank because he heard your ghost comming. The sound in this game greatly contributes to the gameplay. Playing CTF you can hear your enemy's footsteps when he walks off the sand and into your base. As far as your concerned he's already dead because you know he's there. Thanks again bungie...I love you and I love your game.
Suggestions: Yes...only a few tho. As we all know Halo 2 is comming out with twice as many cars and guns. That is awesome. Do that with the multiplayer levels too. And make most of the multiplayer levels car supported...not just 2 like in Halo 1. But BOTS in multiplayer so when you finish the game you can fight against something other then a stationary target or some idiot online who cant play the game to begin with.
