Trials HD Named 2009’s Best XBLA Game
Members of the Xbox Live community have voted Trials HD the Best Overall Arcade Game of 2009.
More than one million XBL members voted for their favourite games of last year in a recent awards poll, according to Microsoft’s Major Nelson.
Released as part of the platform holder’s successful Summer of Arcade promotion, Trials HD was developed by small Finnish independent studio RedLynx. The title sold over 300,000 copies in its first month of availability. It also picked up an award for Best Innovation in the community poll.
“We couldn’t be happier,” said RedLynx creative director Antti Ilvessuo. “This validates our philosophy of building games around a fun, core gameplay mechanic, and of course, a lot of hard work by our extraordinarily gifted teams. Of course, we also want to thank the fans who chose our game.”
Shadow Complex and Battlefield 1943 were multiple award winners too. The former, from Chair and Epic, sold over 200,000 copies in its first week, while the latter, from EA, became the fastest selling Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network download-only title shortly after launching last July.
