Interview:M. O’Donnell of BungieRecently, Score Central had the opportunity to conduct an interview with Bungies own Audio Lead, Marty ODonnell. Marty was kind enough to take the time out of his busy schedule to chat with us about himself and his newest project: HALO.

SC: At first, HALO was to be released on PC. Now it is on XBOX. Did your music/sound effects suffer because of this? Or was it for the good?
MO: It is for the good. Sorry all you PC fans, but it’s true. Every PC has a different soundcard and sometimes we have to compress and dumb down the audio to work on every system and the sound suffers. The Xbox has dedicated hardware that will play and mix 256 voices in real-time, plus do it in Dolby Digital Surround Sound. It doesn’t get a whole lot better for someone like me. I can’t control what your living room speaker and amp setup is like, but at least I know that the playback hardware is the same in my living room as it is in yours.
