Sega Drafts Blue Devils Star

SEGA of America, Inc. today announced the signing of former Duke Blue Devils guard and reigning Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year Jay Williams as the spokesperson and cover athlete for SEGA Sports ™ NCAA ® College Basketball 2K3. Following his spectacular junior season as a member of the Blue Devils men’s basketball team, Williams enters the 2002 NBA draft as one of the most coveted young point guards in recent history. Throughout his college career, Williams was among the most explosive guards in the NCAA, winning multiple National Player of the Year awards and leading his team to victory in the 2001 National Championship game.

Produced by Visual Concepts and developed by Kush Games, “SEGA Sports NCAA College Basketball 2K3,” which is based on the critically acclaimed “NBA 2K” series, delivers a truly realistic college hoops experience. The unique ambience of college basketball is captured in the game with the inclusion of college style gameplay, school-specific arenas, team chants, cheerleaders, fight songs and crowd interaction. As more than 300 Division 1 teams compete for the coveted National Championship, “SEGA Sports NCAA College Basketball 2K3” tracks weekly Top 25 and R.P.I. (Ratings Percentage Index) rankings, and features a complete bubble watch come tourney time. The game’s replay value is further enhanced by an authentic ESPN broadcast presentation, in-depth Legacy Mode and customization options such as the ability to freely edit rosters, names and individual player ratings. “SEGA Sports NCAA College Basketball 2K3” will also be playable online this season on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox video game system from Microsoft.
Jay Williams joins the long line of great athletes who have graced the covers of SEGA Sports titles such as tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams, 76ers guard Allen Iverson, Heisman ® Trophy winner Eric Crouch, Chicago Bears All-Pro Linebacker Brian Urlacher and New York Yankees ® slugger Jason Giambi.
