Classics Ready to Hit New Zealand

With close to two hundred games now available for the platform, Xbox have announced the release of its ’Xbox Classics’ range of software for New Zealand, with twelve best selling titles in the first wave of the programme. From 1 May, gamers will be able to purchase titles in the ’Xbox Classics’ range for a recommended retail price (RRP) from just $59.95. The move is designed to allow current and new Xbox owners to access a proven selection of titles at an amazing price. Five ’first party’ titles to be awarded ’Xbox Classics’ status in New Zealand are:
  • Amped
  • Dead or Alive 3
  • Munch’s Odysee
    • Project Gotham Racing
    • Rallisport Challenge
And seven ’third party’ titles to be awarded ’Xbox Classics’ status in New Zealand are:
    • Max Payne
    • Crash Bandicoot
    • Moto GP
    • Burnout
    • Buffy
    • Bond:Agent Under Fire
    • SSX Tricky
New titles will be added to the programme on an ongoing basis and have to be top sellers worldwide. At just $499, Xbox already offers consumers the most powerful videogame console with the best game-play experience on the market today, and Xbox New Zealand marketing manager Wilf Robinson is confident this move will enhance that position. New Zealand consumers have benefited from the phased worldwide Xbox launch approach, with the ’Xbox Classics’ being proven worldwide sellers. "For us to be able to introduce this into the New Zealand market after only 7 months is unprecedented, and continues to support our position that Xbox offers the New Zealand consumer the best value home entertainment solution on the market today," Mr Robinson says. Games in the ’Xbox Classics’ range will be distinguished by different packaging from other existing Xbox titles. "The ’Xbox Classics’ range is further proof that Xbox is here to stay in the New Zealand market. All these titles have proven sales success both here and around the world and we anticipate the low price will have Xbox fans filling the aisles of our retail partners," he says.
