EA has some competition
According to Bloomberg News, Sega is up for the challenge of giving Electronic Arts a good run for their money in the sports market. Sega of America president Peter Moore told Bloomberg, "the company may seek to gain sweetheart royalty terms from Sony or Microsoft in exchange for agreeing to publish games exclusive to one or the other console." He also stated that Sega’s sports titles may wind up on the PS2 and/or Xbox as early 2002.
