Club Football Canned
It was announced earlier that Codemasters’ cult favorite Club Football franchise has been scrapped. The move comes as a result of difficulties attributed to the company’s inability in attaining a sizeable foothold in a segment of the market traditionally dominated by longstanding Konami and Electronic Arts brands. As a bit of silver lining, Codemasters states that most developers of the series will thankfully be moving to other projects, though no exact numbers were given. This cancellation mainly affects European markets, given that the series has never been hugely successful or even widely available in the United States, where it only saw release on the PC.
