Halo 2 for the next generation Xbox
Tuesday, December 28, 2004

The Voodoo Extreme site is reporting that the Bungie team may work on a project to port Halo 2 to the next generation Xbox, adding in additional content and improving overall gameplay and picture quality. From the news, Bungie may be sinking some of that quarter of a billion dollar profits that Halo 2 made into a Xbox 2 port project. Team Xbox has been quoted, "Halo 2.5 will be an Xbox 2 launch title and is going to run in HDTV resolution with new, improved textures and graphical effects. All the stuff that people expected from Halo 2 but didn’t make the cut will be there." It does appear that there will be HDTV resolution support that the game will run at. While the Xbox graphics have been behind the latest PC physics such as Half-Life 2, this is definately a step in a new direction.

For all of those saying we need Halo3, I admit nice idea, even if not everybody was satisfued with Halo2 (I myself barely play the game), however do you not realise how small Bungie is? 30 people maybe 40 people tops, they couldn't make Halo3 in time... OK Robbie Bach did say that Halo3 was being developed as was Xbox2 + Halo2 but the likelihood of production being finished for the speculated launch?? I doubt it, either Bungie has already finished it or Halo3 is a long way off.Just my two cents."

Call it "Halo: Complete Combat" or something marketing smart like that. I'll give $100 to have the whole series revamped and packaged together. That'd be sweet. Otherwise I second a previous post's thoughts. Concentrate on Halo 3 for XBOX 2.0, don't spend time revamping an upgrade when you could be producing a new masterpiece. Get Halo 3 out, finish the story then revamp the whole trilogy for those of us who want everything. PS. Whoever put up the post that Halo 2 doesn't have a single player game - it does, get a clue and don't waste your time posting about games you've obviously never played."

Azael wrote..."I believe Halo 2.5 would be a tactically smart launch title for the next generation Xbox. The system will need a number of hard hitting titles to push sales; a modified version of H2 would fit nicely into the mix. The Micrsoft/Bungie team surly planned this out in the games production phase long ago. The code for the new material is probably already complete. Moreover, the release of Halo 3 is probably a year or so away, the next Xbox is scheduled to be released before that; a filler game like this will keep most fans somewhat satisfied in the meantime. As far as re-releasing a game that’s been modified, what’s wrong with that? The re-vamped Grand Theft Auto did very well on its Xbox debut. By the way, odpr, brush up on your writing skills. This way, you can present your argument in such a way that gets your point across, no matter how ignorant it may be. "

i think it will be more like halo 2 part 2 kind of title... "
Tuesday, December 28th @ 12:05 PM
GuiltySpark wrote..."They WONT port it. That is my prediction. It will simply be Halo 3. Why would they waste more time to release the same game again when they can release a new game and get more sales. Maybe it will include everything from Halo 2, but the tag is going to say Halo 3. "
