Almost 70 companies already signed up for E3 2009

Almost 70 games companies have already signed up for E3 2009, marking a return to form for the once essential videogame expo.

All of the major games publishers have already committed to the event, with many, such as Electronic Arts, Capcom, Activision and Sega, securing booths and multiple meeting rooms.

"The 2009 E3 Expo will be the pre-eminent North American computer and videogame event," commented Michael Gallagher, CEO of the ESA.

"With robust exhibitor sales, high attendee interest, and strong commitments from multiple industry sectors, we are going to ensure the full excitement and energy of this industry is on display."

For the past two year’s, E3 had been downsized to a more intimate event, but this only prompted senior industry executives from Electronic Arts, Ubisoft and Nintendo, amongst others, to publicly slate the show.

However, last year, the Entertainment Software Association roped in some of those same companies to back the return of a bigger show, set to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center over June 2 – 4.
