"Prior to 2004, Rainbow Studios was just another in the long line of almost unknown game studios. Sure, they had a number of games under their belt, such as the ATV Off-road Fury and Splashdown series’, but nothing that truly put them on the gaming map. Then in 2004, Rainbow Studios released a title that would pull them out of the obscure and place their name into the minds of gamers."
Overall: This game is hands down the best mx game out. The physics are second to none. BUT it lacks in the online department. If you've played you know what I'm talking about. Hopefully the next one will have all that fixed, plus the track editor thats online capable. Gameplay: The game play is great! If you guys at rainbow studios are reading this... NEVER change it unless it's for the better. I trust your judgment. Graphics: The graphics are pretty good for the ol' xbox but I'm expecting alot more out of the 360 when the next one hits. Sound: The sound is good but the soundtracks get old. I need some custom soundtracks but It won't work on the 360. Suggestions: Make the online play air tight, and you've got got the best game ever. Those Halo guys have it down pretty well. Also, the tracks get really old after a while. We need that track editor, online enabled.
Overall: Well I am a huge motocross fan and have been a fan of the series of MX games that Rainbow has put out since I played Motocross Madness 2. The online is TERRIBLE and there is no system link at all. These are major problems. The online is plagued by game connection problems and headset problems. Its not unusual to take 5-10 minutes to find a game you can connect to. This game has so many faults that if it weren't for the extremely good gameplay I would never play this game ever. Gameplay: The gameplay is fantastic. Best gameplay ever in a motocross game. Very realistic and yet still fun as hell. This is what keeps me playing the game. Graphics: The visuals are good but nothing spectacular. You can definatley tell a difference between the PS2 and Xbox versions but nothing much better than what was on MX Unleashed. Sound: The sound has not changed. The sound isn't bad but I think they should update it. The 2 stroke 250 is the most annoying in the game. Just change them so that its something new, and it feels like a new game not just a patched one with different tracks. Also I cannot get the custom soundtracks to work right. I get them all set up with the songs I want to hear and then save my game. If I turn of my Xbox and play again it forgets about my custom tracks I picked. Very annoying. Suggestions: Fix all the bugs dammit! The online is horrible. It suffers from insane amounts of lag, the type of lag that happens like when someone "standby's" you on Halo 2. Fix the part where you can never connect to a game, I get tired of reading the "Game Session Not Available" or w/e it is. Fix the headset problems also. I get so tired of hearing people say "Can you hear me? Can you hear me?" for 20 freaking minutes. Its annoying. Fix the custom soundtracks, update the sounds. Basically make this a complete game cuz im glad i didnt spend 50 bucks on this thing.
Overall: The game in general is good... I loved MX Unleashed so this was a must have in the collection. All and all I enjoy the game and will play it for a long time.
However I am EXTREMLY disapointed that this game DOES NOT have system link.... After all the talk about have system link in the game and they don't put it in....... Argggggg Gameplay: The handling in the game is great. If I could get away with just typing that I would. The way the bike handles and the landings too me is perfect mabe lacking for some but for someone that doesn't ride in real life it's great. Graphics: Well I don't see any improvements from MX Unleashed as far as graphics are concerned however they do make it look dammm good. I have ZERO complaints on the visual aspect of the game. Sound: Well I don't know what this other guy was thinking but the game DOES HAVE Dolby Digital 5.1 mabe you should check your receiver buddy....
And well it's too bad that your missing out on the sound cause it is awesome. Suggestions: They should get with the program cause they need to implement system link in there games... You know this is the second game without well guess what three times your out... I don't think that i'd play a third game if they don't have system link in it. Like what's your F@%$ing problem XBOX Live! but no system link what are you thinking. Dammm some of us don't play on Live! (puke) we use XBConnect (smile) I don't see the point in paying for Live! anyways that's another topic on it's own.
Overall: Compete in Supermoto, Short track, Hill climbs, Way Point racing, Machine challenges. Race ATV's, Motocross bikes, dune buggies, Monster Trucks, bi-plane and even a golf cart. Race single, multiplayer and multi-online. Gameplay: Playing this game is fun. Learning the tricks isnt too hard, but executing the 360's or backflips take a bit to learn, havent got those down just yet. Controls are good and not too complicated to work. Learn the clutch, helps alot. Online play is great. Graphics: 1080i, what more can u say. If you have the tv to view it in HD, it looks awesome. Great minor details can be seen in HD. Sound: No Dolby Digital, would like to hear the 5.1, what happen here? Sounds to the game are good, but could be alot better. Having the stadium and player noises all around would have a better effect. Suggestions: Make a little more open ended tracks. I understand you have to follow way points, but come one, some u just want to cut across but get penalized for it. Also add 5.1 surround, come on even some of the cheaper games have it. Anyone remotely interested in bikes and off road racing should get this game.
