"A very dark and gothic tale of Kain the Vampire seeking revenge upon the ones who vanquished him. He is back to reclaim what was his and shows no mercy to anyone who stands in his path. The game plays like a movie, very cinematic, and the voice acting is fantastic."
Overall: I thought this game was going to be fun, first of all, you have to turn your brightness way up, just so you can see! The finishing moves are cool though! Gameplay: The game play is cool, sucking blood from people is fun, and i think that the special moves are awesome, nothing like shoving a sword thorugh a guys throat. Graphics: Visual looks like ps2 graphics, there descent, but not what the xbox is capable of, im tired of seeing this half-assed crap for xbox. not acceptable. Sound: sound is ok, not really many noises, wouldve been coool to have a sucking noise when sucking blood, but NOOOOOOOOO!
Overall: overall appeal is good,i would say this
game is better than soul reaver 2,it,s
even longer and more fun to play, i
suggest you buy this instead of stupid
buffy the vampire slayer, this is a good
game if you like vampires. Gameplay: the gameplay is boring in the first two
levels, but after you kill marcus (first
boss)and you gain the first dark gift wich
is the abilty to jump higher and longer
distances,that,s where you won,t stop
playing, because it gets better and better. Graphics: graphics are the weak spot,it looks
similar to the ps2 version,nothing
amazing,after all this game is good,so i
really don,t care for the graphics only this
time. Sound: very good, everything is fine with sound,i
don,t think the sound is the problem, but
the graphics are. Suggestions: make a sequel please, make it look like a
xbox game, even if you make a sequel for
the ps2,don,t make it look a like and you
all see better results.
Overall: this game had a really good story line I believe I just didnt like the actual game . I didnt think it was that fun. Gameplay: Like I said the story line was cool like itd be a good movie but the actual game sucked. I didn't like it. Graphics: The graphics weren't bad they were pretty ok overall I have seen alot better and I have seen alot worse. Sound: I didnt really pay attention to the sound so obvviously it wasn't that great to catch my attention but the same with that bad.
Overall: This game is the best in it's genre. Killing the innocent, sucking their blood, just amazing. Your special vampiric abilities add to the fun of killing. If you're ever in an angry mood, you can take out your anger on innocent civilians in this game. Gameplay: The gameplay is great. Despite what you may think, this game is not a mindless killing game. You must decisively plan your attacks as you hide in the shadows. Graphics: It's nice, but it could be a bit better. Peoples bodies are finely defined in this game, only the faces need more detail. Sound: The sound is great. You can hear people talking about their personal lives before you jump out and hack them to bits. Suggestions: More please!
Overall: The sequel to the Blood Omen series, you are consistently learning new skills and getting better weapons. Each level is a little tougher. In the end, you are left with a satisfying game experience. Gameplay: Some of the gameplay is straight forward though the combos are minimal and the some of the moves get old. However, the puzzles can also be more tricky than they needed to be. Graphics: Visually, it is obvious that this game was made early on in the XBox life cycle. Despite that, the quality is still decent even if there are a few glitches from time to time. Sound: The sound in this game is definetly quality. You will not be dissapointed. Especially since you can now buy it for a low price. Suggestions: Get Azrael involved as well. The developers are doing that with the next game, but it would have been nice to have had at least some reference to him in this game.
Overall: Meh, its an average xbox title with some great key features but overall its a great rental at its best. Gameplay: You play as a vampire with the need to kill and suck blood out of everything. Sucking blood is one of the best features in this game. Graphics: Average. The game does not take advantage of any of the xbox's features. It looks like a great ps2 port. Sound: Sounds good with THX sorround sound. Hits give a satisfiying crunch when delivered. Decent voic overs. Suggestions: None
Overall: Well you're a blood thirsty vampire. Go kick soem ass, and gain abilities along the way...blah blah.. Gameplay: It's alright, didn't think it was that good. Got bored of it fairly quickly though. Preferred games like enclave or blade 2 more. Graphics: Eh wasn't happy with the graphics. I think they should've been better. CLean them up and the frame rate too. Sound: Sound was ok, but if the game isn't that great it wouldn't matter if the sound was sweet anyways.... Suggestions: Better graphics and frame rate. Make it more of an rpg, and make it online of course.
Overall: Its a really fun game with really nice graphics and a cool story...Although its so dman hard which frustrates me lol...I suck at these sorta games. Oh well its pretty fun and has good cotnrols as well. Gameplay: The controls kick as there really easy to use and all the camera angles are good. Replay value may lack like most of these types of games do... Graphics: SWEET!!! visuals!! I love the sucking blood into the mouth thing it looks really cool. Also all the towns people and hosues and crap are all very very well done. Sound: Great sound, the sound of all the people screaming in horror and the enemies trying to kill you. It's all so great it makes me wanna play more if it wasnt so hard (for me). Suggestions: no great job...longer maybe i dunno just for people who have beat it.
Overall: Very well done. Solid graphics, decent sound. Storyline is where the games shines. Like watching a movie. Some games you could care less on the cinematic, but with this game, you actually intrigued by the story. Gameplay: Simple controls, but responsive. The camera pose no problems for the most part. The addition of "dark gifts" as you advance in the game, keeps the game fresh. Have options of different weapons, but really all do the same function. Graphics: Nothing to salivate here, but very solid. Very dark game (it is vampires). Sometimes will leave you gazing at the graphics, but for the most part is not &qu Sound: Voice acting is nothing short of great. Love the conversation of the commoners before you kill them for their blood. In game sound effects are above average. Suggestions: Once you finish the game, you will probably will not play it again for awhile. Once of these games you will play 2 years later for fun. Nothing really to suggest, but only to do more. The sum is greater than it's part for this game.
Overall: Very similar play to many of the eidos games like tombraider, however the game itself is far more fun than I had with any tomb raider Gameplay: sometimes the control can be a little awkward, but the action is fun and the many different ways to kill people is entertaining. Graphics: The graphics are nice, but they aren't the greatest. I can't really complain because everything was easily veiwed and understood, but still something seemed lacking. Sound: Very basic audio, music changes whenever you are about to be attacked, the voices could have been a little better. Suggestions: Not really as I said, it is a good game.
Overall: Have you ever see Buffy : The Vampire Slayer, it's a real shame. They show some vampire that are so gay. In real life, the real vampire are supposed to have edge, powerful strenght and are unbeatable. Blood Omen 2 take the good way to show to us how a vampire can be, because they are like they are supposed to be in the game. What the story here ? You are a vampire who want to rules the world with his army and he was beaten by a leader of a another vampire race, so he want a revenge. In conclusion, Blood Omen 2 have no multiplayer and he is a multi-console game but it seems to be one of the greatest multi-console ever done. Gameplay: Really nice gameplay ! You have two meter : one for your life ( you can full it with the blood of your victims ) and the power meter ( some coffin give to you multiple vampire soul to increase your level ). Through all the game you are able to use you brain at his maximum speed because some puzzle are really hard. The best thing in that game is you can stole the edge from other powerful vampire so at the end you got some edge that are pretty cool like charism, berserker, immolate, telekenesis, ultimate punch, long jump and etc... Graphics: Againt is a multi-console game but graphic seems to be better than ever, no the greatest of course but they satisfied me a lot. Finally they need some work but when you are playing the game it seems that you just don't care about them because the game is great. Character and background are also well done especially Kain our main and only character. Sound: The music is repetitive and boring but when they are talking in the video, you are able to forget it easily. Amazing voices and poor music, it's sound crazy a lot ! Suggestions: Better graphic is the only way to increase the game !
Overall: I wasn't sure I would be into this game, so I rented it first. It almost blew me away. It was fun to play and the major appeal is that the storyline is pretty immersive. I kind of got lost in it a few times, which to me is the mark of a good game. I was up late far past the time I should've been asleep because I just couldn't stop playing. Crystal Dynamics really showed that they are major players in the developer world with this jewel. They need to make it xbox exclusive, or at least port it to PS2 from xbox instead of porting it to xbox from PS2. Gameplay: The gameplay left little to be desired. The controls took me a little bit of getting used to, but after about ten minutes I had the system down. I loved using the special abilities. They added a lot to the appeal of the gameplay.A way to fast forward throught the cut scenes would have been appreciated, but I can live without it. All in all I had a hellafun time playing Blood Omen. Graphics: The visuals were sweet, but not as sweet as possible. I think it is pretty obvious that this is nothing more that a PS2 port. I'll spare you the usual "I hate ports" rant. Nevertheless, I would've appreciated it if the game had been upgraded, or improved, more specifically for the graphical power of the xbox. The present visuals make a great game good, whereas improved visuals would've made a great game phenomenal. Sound: The sound of this game is actually better than I thought it would be. The voice acting is fairly well done and the sounds from the surrounding environment are good and the music is appropriately creepy. I have no complaints whatsoever with the sound. Suggestions: Let us have a way to eliminate the cut scenes if we wish. Include some xbox extras or make the game xbox exclusive.
Overall: The story of this game was great...I kept commenting to my roommate, and to the friend that I borrowed the game from that someone should make it into a movie. I was very entertained by this game. Gameplay: Simply controls, and an easy interface made getting going in the game very simple. I didn't even get the manual out of the case (I never do that, actually). I do have two complaints about the game, though. First, it was far too easy. I never felt challenged by the game. The first boss I faced was the one I had the hardest time with. I hadn't realized that the little ring of special abilities was so important in the game, and actually beat him without ever using the mist ability...talk about a pain in the @$$! I beat the final boss on my second attempt, and would have beaten him on the first attempt if I had figured out the the need for one special ability a little earlier. It just wasn't challenging at all. The hardest thing in the whole game was the spidery guys...and they weren't very difficult, either. Second, not having a way to pass up the cut scenes was a pain in the butt. It wouldn't have been very difficult to add a switch to the programming that would check to see if the scene had been played once, and then allow a button bypass of it in further showings. Graphics: Not anywhere near as smooth as I would have expected. There were some beautiful backgrounds with great detail, but the look of kain and the npcs were pretty brutal. It seemed like everything...characters, backgrounds, etc...were made to be as square as possible...and I don't understand why. Other games are all getting these amazing scenes and or characters (i.e rallisport scenery or nfl2k2 players). It's not like there's ever too much of anything going on in any particular screen to possibly cause the framerate to slow. It just wasn't as beautiful as I thought it could have been. Sound: Nothing spectacular or brutal here...it's just sort of there. There are some cool things that happen in the soundtrack that I think are designed to get your blood pressure up. However, I found Halo's soundtrack to be much more effective at causing me to feel in a particular situation. Suggestions: It's hard to say I would grow tired of this game, but I wouldn't play it again. It was a great story, but not a difficult or dangerous feeling game. If I'm playing a vampire whose existence is in danger, I want to feel like that's the case. Heck, if that last boss was the main threat I had, I wouldn't be too concerned about anything. Make it a little harder...not unsolveable, frustrate the player till they throw the controller in disgust hard...hard for the sake of being hard. Just make the difficulty match the task that you're putting him on.
Overall: Well, aside from the fact that Blockbuster slaps a HUGE label on the CD, and makes it almost too unbalanced to run (you can hear the problems in the XBOX), I've managed to play this game for the past twenty hours, and I've got to say that it's one of the coolest XBOX games that I've played thus far. From the graphics to the gameplay, Crystal Dynamics has this thing licked. Gameplay: The gameplay was a bit awkward for me at first, because I had to learn what all the buttons were for. But, once I figured it out, I was killing people and sucking blood left and right... I seem to have forgotten how to do a stealth attack though... I was talking to some friends when they explained how to do it, and I forgot... Five out of five, regardless. Graphics: Graphics are awesome, and the in-game cutscenes are pretty sweet, but they really should allow you to skip some of them... I mean, when I have to sit through the same movie three, four, five times in a row, I start getting annoyed, to say in the least... -_-;; But anyway, five out of five here. Sound: Can't really say much about the sound, as I've got more pressing things to worry about when I'm playing the game (i.e. knights coming at me with huge swords), so I rely more on visual than sound. But, I do like how the sound gives you a warning as to when the people are going to use the straight-through stab attacks (you can hear a heart beating loudly, and then the knight recoils his weapon and lunges). Five of five. Suggestions: Multiplayer would be sweet, but aside from that, I can't really think of anything that needs improving (except again, you should let the person skip the in-game movies—it gets repetitive after a while...). Good job, Crystal Dynamics!
Overall: Its a good game with a good story and good voice acting and very gory This is a game you may want to get for your XBOX! Gameplay: The GAMEPLAY IS VERY NICE EASY AND SIMPLE. It should take about 5 mins to get it and thats a wrap. I LIKE THE GAMEPLAY! IT IS SWEET! Graphics: The Graphics are horrible. Well not that horrible but bad. IF XBOX IS SO GRAPHICAL {IT IS} WHY DIDNT THEY MAKE THIS GAME WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY MORE BETTER IN GRAPHICS. THE CHARACTOR DESIGHN ON THE GAME STINKS! IT LOOKS LIKE EIDOS PAID THEIR ATTENTION ON KAINS LOOK AND NOT ANYONE ELSES! Sound: The sound is not all that good or bad. sometimes in cut scenes you cant hear what their saying beacuse the backround is too loud! Suggestions: Well I REALLY ALWAYS COMPLAINED ON EIDOS BEACUSE ON ALMOST ALL THEIR GAMES HAVE BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD CHARACTOR DESIGHN AND POOR GRAPHICS. I DONT REALLY LIKE THEIR GAMES EITHER. SO THEY REALLY NEED TO DO BETTER!
Overall: I don't like linear games, or games that pretend to give you rewards so that you think you're having fun. Blood Omen 2 is one of those games. Gameplay: The gameplay on its own, isn't bad at all. Killing people and sucking their blood is a fun process, and fighting individual people IS a unique experience nearly every time. The developer (crystal dynamics I believe, but won't bet on, because I think I got the name wrong) obviously cared about making the heart of the game - the fighting - fun, and succeeded in doing so. Unfortunately for them, the entire game doesn't consist of fighting, and at critical spots like boss battles, where fighting is the sole tool of the gamer, gameplay quickly grows tired. It's fine when you fight a person who only takes about 5 hits to kill, but when you fight a person who takes at least 100 hits to kill, and you have a very limited arsenal of moves, well I think you get the point.
Something else that bothered me is the very linear-progression of the game. You start out with tutorials, which is fair enough as the gameplay isn't all that straightforward. However, upon finishing up the tutorial, you are told you can "Wander the city and meet at 'X' spot". Unforunately for you, the gamer, the developers obviously thought you were to stupid to figure out where that is. So, there is one spot where you can go. This location leads to several [simple] puzzles for you to wade through, which then lead you directly to the meeting point. Repeat this process several times until the boss battle. After the boss battle, the same old linear design repeats again.
After a point though, you find some new armor. You can't upgrade when you want or anything, you just find this one piece for some reason. In and of itself, this seems cool, but then all of a sudden, all the enemies get harder, so it's like the armor does nothing at all. And if you ask me, that's a silly reward system: changing the game just so you can change it. Not progressing the difficulty or anything.
To put the final nail into the coffin, the actual character control feels a little stiff. It's hard to put my finger on it, but you'll notice it too when you play. Graphics: The game looks good. I'll give it that. Nevertheless, it is obvious that this was JUST a PS2 port. Sure, buildings and environments look very nice. Even most of the player and NPC models look quite nice. The textures however (without regard to buildings and other environmental objects) are dull. For instance, on Kain's first skin (the one you start with), he has a leather strap across his chest. The texture work is soo bad though, it looks like he smeared peanut butter across his chest. Definitely not something you'd expect from the Xbox, or a capable developer. Other than that, the game is sufficiently moody, and environmental effects are nice. Sound: The sound in the game is actually quite good. The dialog is well done, unlike the horribly, horribly acted Silent Hill 2. (just horrible) The environmental sounds, like the graphical effects, are well done and only add to the game. The individuals you run across during the game all say stuff to you, adding to the atmosphere. I could talk about every thing done right in the sound department, but I don't think I have the space, so I'll leave you with this: I can't find anything to complain about here. Suggestions: The game is far too linear. I can't imagine wanting to play through the whole thing once, let alone several times. Some Xbox-specific graphical effects (like bump mapping) would have greatly enhanced the visual appeal of the game (not to mention sharper textures!). Other than that, the game really needs a major overhaul in design. Trust that the gamer is as interested in the story as you are, and let them actually roam the city when you tell them they can. Allow them to find things that help them along the quest, without making them HAVE to use it. Making them use it defeats the whole purpose of the reward.
And do something about replay other than that. Maybe new skins, or a new model to play through the game with. Maybe the player can unlock extra quests for the next time they play (although if the game was good enough, you wouldn't have to do that anyway). Just do something. As is, the game is far too shortly lived, and not nearly interesting enough.
Overall: Great game, I'm not a big fan of the genre but this game kept me playing way past 20 hours. I have beaten the game and if u get discoured keep playing the game is worth it Gameplay: Great game. Attacking does not get boring but, fun many plot twists keep you wanting to play on. It is sweet to finally be the bad guy. Graphics: Graphics would be great for a ps2. So i guess these graphics arent that bad there's some nice cut scenes. But where the game loses its appeal is when you look at the back grounds. Very bland don't look realstic like in a game such as halo. Sound: Good, at the last 2 chapters the conversations get a little to faint to hear, and i muts go past half volume. Music is good but i just listen 2 music while i played so what ever. Sound is good found perfect kain. Suggestions: Piss on ps2 Make this seris X-box exclusive
Overall: The graphics are good, but not excellent, with decent gameplay that does get a little repetative, but not too bad. The story is very cool. I also really enjoyed the dark settings in the game, the towns are very cool. Overall I would say it is definately worth checing out Gameplay: Although the gameplay does get repetative after a while the controls are easy to follow and the learning curve is low. Graphics: The graphics are good, but not great. The settings are very dark and pretty cool. I suggest playing at night with the lights out. Sound: The blood sucking sounds are pretty cool, but other than that nothing really stood out.
Overall: The idea of going sneaking around
(mist attack) and killing for the
sake of killing is too good of a
concept (so im sick so what?) the
fact is that this game rules ... the
puzzles are not too complicated and
the action is pretty much constant
this is a good game overall (gotta
love that matrix like jump) i was
going to give it a 5 but when this
thing froze on me on the fourth level
i chan Gameplay: The controls are quite ez to learn
(the attack mode takes practice for
elegant kills) and that will be the
appeal for most people..specially
those fans of kaine from the soul
reaver series. Overall the learning
curve for this game should be no more
than 2 hours.
The story is pretty interesting, and
the objectives are not too terribly
retarded... (like soulreaver 2)
I put the fact that the camera aggles
are done well as well as the
different attack combos kaine has as
being the top factors for Graphics: Nothing better than grabbing a towns
person by the neck and squeezing each
time you hit the punch button...
squeeezeee... better yet try
kaboobing the enemy with a sword
(good for laughs also) to put it one
way ..I have finals and very little
time to myself....but ill have to say
each time i can i pop the game in for
a quick stab or two ...ya know jst
Sound: The sound effects are pretty nice I
think however the sound for sucking
blood sounds too mutch like a drain
...well draining .... and no i dont
know what the soud is for sucking the
blood out of an individual but i
immagine it woulnt sound like that .
I wish i had a surround system to my
xbox so i could do a better sound
review... but im going on what i know
. Suggestions: NEVER RELEASE A GAME FULL OF
BUGS!!!!!!!!! IT COSTS MORE U
DEVELOPER MORRRONS!!!! can u say
RE-Ca
Overall: this game is very cool..good musi..great graphics..interesting plots...difficult but mind puzzling obstacls to go through. Very fun! Gameplay: The game play is very easy to learn..all you have to do is use the left stick and the buttons..yu get it down pretty quick once you get into the game. good moves and great powers that you get during the game. Graphics: the graphics ae pretty good! i was surprised..at irst ididnt really think they were reallyyyy good but now tey are pretty cool. fo each level there are differnt things you have to do and new and more difficult characters to beat..and it all has great detail and looks realistic. Sound: the sound is good too. i have surround sound but still, it is awesome! the cool creapy music gos along perfect with the plot..its a 5 on my board! Suggestions: Hmmmmm...try a little harder on the detals in the face and character!! thats it!
Overall: Good presentation and some nice CG cutscences. Not as polished as the Soul Reaver series and lacking in depth. Where are the RPG elements that made Blood Omen so great? Excellent voice work. Gameplay: Kill someone, open a box, fight a boss. That's pretty much it. The story may keep you playing for a while but there is some real shallow gameplay here. Not what i expected considering the other titles in the series. Graphics: Smooth frame rate that slows down at times and a clean crisp visual look. Kain is highly detailed and is animated well but the locations and level design just are not up to bar with the rest of the games in the series. Nice lighting effects. Sound: Excellent voice work. Music is pretty good and moody but there isn't enough of it. Sound effects are good but nothing spectacular. Suggestions: Blood Omen 2 is a straight action game with little exploration and no RPG elements which made the other games so deep. You may want to rent this one first. I'm only compeled to finish this game becvause I want to hear Kain's voice and hear the rest of the story. A bit of a dissapointment overall.
Overall: Blood Omen is the kind of game that will be used until the single player is done with, after that it's just crap. This game is entertainment at it's best. Very fun to play, finally you play the role of a villain!!. Game is fluent and very very vicious.
Note: Iv'e only gone through the first two chapters. Gameplay: The gameplay is one of the best parts. Some official (pro) reviewers say that the gameplay is slow paced. This is true in some ways, and just small sections of the game. People say that you get bored of the killing system.... well I can say that after 5hrs. Im still not bored of it, in fact I'm enjoying much more now than I used to at the start. The best part about the gameplay are the Dark Gifts, these are just plainly fantastic. The big problem with it is taht their not used often enough. Graphics: The graphics are very good. Some may say this is a downside of the game... well I can tell you it's not. The graphics are not great, but get the job done. The enviorments are almost perfect!!. The really bad thing about the graphics are the character models. Kain has a good model though. Sound: Great!, the best you can hope for. Eidos is by far the best sound production company, they proved it with Deus Ex and now with Blood Omen. When killing a victim you will love the way they squeal. Suggestions: Upgrade the graphics. Make more use of the Dark gifts.
Overall: This games pretty cool man. Its like Castlevania and shadowman , shadowman being graphics and atmosphere and castlevania in style and level progression, kinda like Symphony of the Night but with better graphics and less items. Gameplay: This games real cool . you can sneak up in a mist form and rip a bad guys heart out , or if your carrying a weapon you cand kill him with a sword thrust right through his neck! awesome , plus more. The bosses are cool and their fun to defeat , not hopeless but you have to use the enviorment too to kill them.Kain is back and he's not takin anyones crap this week. Graphics: Nice moody effects , just like shadowman had for dreamcast but even better graphics.Water looks great , sky looks nice and dreary , and the mist looks freakin great man , the only thing is they should have added more different kinds of guys for us to kill but it doesn't matter much , its fun to kill them all the different ways regardless :D Sound: The sounds are good top notch where they should be , i have my xbox hooked to my reciever and my powered sub and this game knocks big time my friend.Dogs and cats in the backgrounds , all the sound effects are nicely done for everything. Suggestions: make the next one just a tad less linear, and it would be cool if we could change humans to vampires in the next one to help us instead of charm or something , maybe both, make the levels longer , keep the many ways of killing your enemies but add more too, and more variety of enemiesand make another Legacy of Kain please :D
Overall: I heard that this game was going to be awsome but it turned out to be just good. This might have been because it is also a ps2 game so it couldn't be enhanced greatly for xbox. Gameplay: This gameplay is good and it keeps me wanting to come back and play more. There is only melee attacks for fghting though. I liked how the game was spli betweer puzzles and fighting. The levels are long and can take awhile which was also good. Graphics: The graphis are good for a game that hase been enhanced for the xbox. Althought there are some blocky characters, The levels are big and the scenery is good. Sound: The sound it pretty basic in tat there is the same sounds when you are attacking. The short movies tat come up sometimes are fun to watch and voice acting is pretty good. Suggestions: Could have done a better job bringing it to xbox. Anyway...this game was good and i would definately rent or buy another one in this series.
Overall: I found this game to be quite fun to play for the first 15 hours of gameplay. I flew through the first 6 chapters in no time and found that even on the "skilled blocking" mode the game wasn't that much harder.
It's a perfect game to rent. I wouldn't recommend buying this one unless your a huge fan or you would like to have a game that sits on your shelf for a long time because it is the same thing everytime you play.
Fighting sequences are pretty boring, other than the fact that you can sneak up on people and rip their hearts out. You only get to do 3 hits maximum, unless your using a special ability. The fighting gets pretty monotonous that way.
Still loved the game :) Gameplay: I was struck by the cover of this game and thought it would be fun to play. After about about 10 minutes I was hooked. Graphics: The graphics are awesome. The movie sequences look pretty much the same as the normal game play, some are done up better but not much. There are no real flaws in the cg. The gore and blood everywhere just enhanced the feeling that your vampire. Sound: Bad.
Some parts of the game the bacground sound drowns out the voices and you can barely hear the characters. Even when you turn the music of the game off it still is a problem.
The effects are great but there are no varieties, and after hearing the sound when you suck your victim dry of it's blood a 1000 times the sounds get pretty boring. Suggestions: Try and more secrets/easter eggs to make the game more fun. Additional endings and stuff like that to make gameplay longer. Mabey even unlocked characters you can play and a harder playing level.
Also put the checkpoints a little closer or make it so you can save more often.
Overall: Finally, a sequel to Blood Omen, and a worthy one! Sure, PS2 has Soul Reaver 2, but Soul Reaver is really just a knockoff until Edios could prepare the real sequel. This is an awesome game. Gameplay: The gameplay is really great, although the puzzles can be bothersome interuptions of the wonderful killing. Graphics: Not quite as pretty as I'd hoped but still nice graphics. The cinematic sequences are really cool and the graphics are awesome. Sound: The sound is very good and rarely repetitive. They suit the game well also and add to the overall expirience. Suggestions: Make Blood Omen 3 but don't take ten years to do it like you did this time.
Overall: I was appealed to the vampire aspect, i love to see gore and blood. i also like melee combat, but some range would've been nice. thanks for pumping out lovely gameplay, but the graphics were ps2. Gameplay: yum. i liked blocking my enemies and then immolating them. i guess i'd have had more fun(and frusteration) if i had used my claws(the weapons kept breaking) Graphics: ew! BAD BAD BAD CLIPPING! i kept getting stuck on objects and having to restart my xbox. plus the graphix are ps2, the dark gifts are boring looking, cept the matrix style rage attack. Sound: CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH SHLURP! yummy. i loved the battle noises. i didn't like the cheesey background noises like cats and were-wolves Suggestions: ok, make it for xbox, then work on the ps2 version, make more dark gifts, the game pauses when you're selecting them, so you could have at least put them in list form so there'd be more space to choose them. i like the system of fighting, keep that, but make the environment more changible, gat rid of the box puzzles, and fix the clipping glitches.
Overall: i think the game is pretty tight. i wasn't that interested in a vampire game, but everything that was included with the dark gifts was i thought very creative. the only thing i've been disappointed about so far was the first vampire i faced to get dg-of jump was very difficult but the second vampire that i faced could have been alot more difficult, especially dg-of mind control. Gameplay: i know alot of my friends like the story line movies when you've accomplished a segment of the game so you don't get bored with the game, you stay very much interested in the game play.. Graphics: the graphics are #$*$% of the hook crazy. the characteristics of each vampire definitely give them there own personalities, colors of the vampires infront of the colors of background made it very easy for the vampires to catch the players eye. Sound: Listening to the music is not all that important considering most of the time players listen to their own music while playing most video games. Suggestions: i know its a vampire game and everything is supposed to be a gothic feeling to game but if your going to spend so much time and make an awesome game like this you might want to make at least three light colors of the game brighter so the players have to take more brakes while playing the game so you can get more input on your games because it will take them longer to beat the game....
Overall: While it's easy to nitpick, this game really comes together to present something and the whole is more than the sum of its parts. The voice acting and dialouge are superb for a video game, at least as good as Blade2. Everything about this game is immersing. The only problem is that while the city gives you the illusion of being able to go where you want, you're actually stuck on a very narrow path through the game. Though, fortunately, you can usually dispatch enemies any way you choose, or choose not to. Overall its great, atmospheric, involving, mass-slaughtering fun! Gameplay: This game really isn't comparabe to the first one or the Soul Reaver games. It's one part Metal Gear, one part final fight, and one part Tomb Raider, but it all comes together much more nicely than you would guess.
Thinking ahead and planning out your battles is key, and while the combat system has issues (throws aren't very useful, you move WAY too slow while locked on), it's a lot of fun and doesn't allow you to attack mindlessly.
Puzzles break up the action a little too much, but they're surprisingly enjoyable. They're not always easy to figure out, but if you keep doing everything you can, you'll get them.
The rpg elements are certainly wanting, but the fact that you can get experience from every victim slain encourages you to use your awesome dark gifts to get kills as easily as possible. The game does keep combat from growing repetetive, but it could've done more. Graphics: Visually, this game hasn't gotten the credit it deserves, it's easily the best looking ps2 port ever. The enviroments have dark, brooding, atmospheric lighting and some incredibly high-res textures. They're not Max Payne-quality and a few are rather dull (particularly on non-bricked structures), but this game really makes me want a vga adapter. The character models are a little low-poly, but they're animated very well. The whole presentation really sucks you in (no pun intended). Sound: The audio floored me, not only are all the voices and effects spot-on, but the ambient music perfectly compliments the mood of the game. Suggestions: More stat-building, more weapons, items, more dark gifts... more of everything, but puzzles, they're just right.
Overall: This game rocks,,, I was off in my initial apeal rating, I really enjoy playing this game. Thrid person action adventure games are growing on me though I still favor first person shooters. Gameplay: I liked it, it played well moved well, those long jump kills never get boring... I they could have done a lot worse, but sure there is room for improvement. Graphics: Geeeeeeez some of you guys are acting silly by say how powerful the Xbox is and $hit. This game does not look bad at all, yes the Xbox is powerful, but you should not slam a game because the developers did an overall good job. Sound: Good stuff, though the voice acting was a little hard to hear,,,, it sometimes gets drowned out by the ambient noise. Suggestions: where are the hot chicks to seduce.... You needed more charcter models... I get tired of seeing the same 5 characters in the streets.
