Ok, so it's final that the version of Xbox 360 that includes a hard drive is backwards compatible right? If so, has anyone heard anything about memory cards being backwards compatible? It sure would be nice to back up some very important xbox saves to the new Xbox 360 in case my good old one ever crashes. If the memory cards are not backwards compatible, is there any other way to back up old xbox saves to the Xbox 360? Anyone hear anything about any of this? thanks

ummm, i dont believe that the 360 has BC. at least i havent heard anything about it. you must be thinking of the pre-loaded games on the HD like halo2. but nothing about BC.

It may still be BC. We will just have to wait...

I hope it doesn't. I'd rather they focus on making the next xbox the most forward thinking machine it can be.

Since it is coming out pretty soon I doubt it will have B.C. Although Halo 2 would render faster hopefully.

As for the memory cards, I dont see why they wouldnt be bc also? but I could be wrong. Even if they werent bc out of the box there would be some way to do it, since 360 is going to be a "media center"

Would be nice to have, but if not I'm not at all worried.
I still won't believe anything until MS themselves tell me so. I won't give myself false hope.

I've read rumors that the HD will be the key to the BC.

If it is BC, from the leaked picture of the memory card, you won't be able to put the MC into the system. But, it is possible that your old controllers could fit into the system in some way, allowing you to transfer your old saves.

Food for thought.

But won't backwards compatability be a detriment to the system's performance? I've read that it caused the PS2 to under-perform graphically.

No, Xbox 1 games will be emulated to run on Xbox 360. So in effect, the games won't slow the system, rather, the system will slow the games. But since the 360 is so darn powerful, it'll still run XB1 games better than XB1. Get it?

So its software emulation, not hardware?
