I think the bottom-most one is interactive for the XBox2. It is a parachute sequence that you sorta control. For the XBox, it is a cut-scene, but for the XBox2 you can move the guy around.

Double Agent's release date is being shifted for all platforms and the game will now see a release in September 2006. The news comes in Ubisoft's latest financial results.

So why the delay? Looks like Ubisoft wants more customers for the Xbox 360 version by the time of launch and extra time to polish the game.

"In addition, the rescheduling to September 2006 of the launch of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent is meant to release the title on all platforms simultaneously," said Ubisoft. "Including the Microsoft Xbox 360 that should have a much larger installed base by that time. This will also enable to maintain the highest quality for which Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is recognised. This rescheduling will ensure the best return from the coming release as well as from future sequels of this brand over time."

Now all versions of the game will launch simultaneously in September 2006.

aaaaaaaaaw man! that is so stuuuuuuuuuuupid! i mean i guess in the long run it's good for the game.....but still man.....awwwww.....i was sooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to this game too. for serious man, splinter cell is honestly my favorite game series...awwww. i mean i guess so long as ghost recon: awf doesn't get delayed i'll do fine, but if it does than what do i do? awwwww...

on the lighter side of things there's a new trailer for splinter cell: double agent at www.gametrailers.com so you might wanna check that out. it's a french tv spot...which i guess is kinda wierd cause if the game's gonna be delayed then why would they release a french tv spot 6...no wait 8 months before it comes out? hmmm...a conundrum has arisen....indeed it has...

I heard the screens where he bends over Jenna Jameson and stuffs her ass are in game. I also heard she makes fun of his ***** and does the whole inverted neck snap thing. Should be a really exciting part. I can see it as you sneak up behind her "Press A to mount character..."

I never thought about this happening. Developers are delaying the launch of games until a larger user base gets installed.

This is new, and can only really take place when you have a hardware shortage. If the systems were on the shelves, it would be because demand is not yet fully saturated. That's when you can release a game, even with a smaller user base. You rely on the game pushing hardware, which pushes the game. It is a Chicken/Egg scenario.

In this case, however, UbiSoft can't push what people can't get. It makes complete sense for them to delay 6 months. If they release now, they know that they can only sell 1.5 million MAX, or however many XBox 2's have been released. That isn't enough to cover development costs. In 6 months, the game will have a big enough base to make a profit, but by then it will be yesterday's news. The latest and greatest games will be out.

I think this was a difficult decision for them to make, but it was the correct one. They will be able to polish the game a little more, and get started on the next installment of the franchise. It just means the wait between this Sam Fisher game and the next one will be less than usual.
