It's time to control DS's 360 usage. Are there any timer controls built-in, or do I have to resort to ugly third-party hardware (http://blog.tmcnet.com/blog/tom-keating/gadgets/limit-your-kids-video-game-play-time-with-this-gadget.asp)?

TIA

There are no built in timers for the controller and as for the 360 just a timer to turn it off after 8 hours off no useage. So you are going to have to get the third-party hardware or be a better mom and make your kid stop playing.

Welcome to the Xbox Addict Asylum.

You can use a simple dial timer on the outlet and have it shut off at whatever time you specify. This can easily be bypassed if the kid just takes the timer off and plugs the power directly into the wall.

My solution, walk around with a big wooden spoon. If the Xbox360 is not off in time, use the spoon!

Get a clock in your house that you are capable of checking (I can refer you to some good clock suppliers). After the time allowance is up, I suggest telling your kid to get off. Perhaps discipline him to get off on his own.

But hey, I'm just reaching.

Your kids, boyfriend, or husband can learn a lot more from a video game than they can from a book. I suggest you encourage them to play as much as possible, and even reward them for playing.
