I knew that one of the major selling points for companies was the revenues created by being able to sell advertisement space in a game and then going through Xbox Live to update the ads.
I never really noticed this occuring in a game until I played a co-op campaign with my friend on Rainbow Six Las Vegas. I haven't played the game in quite some time, so it really jumped to my attention was that several of the marquees and billboards in the game have been switched out to advertise the "Shoot 'Em Up" movie thats coming out soon.
I guess that was the little update I had to install before I played that night.

I don't think its a tremendous deal, but it was the first time I ever noticed it happening in a game. If memory serves me right, I think Ubi-Soft changed some of the Dodge cars in the casinos too. For instance in the Calypso and the Spire, in the casino floor I think they changed the car thats featured as a prize to be the Dodge Nitro now. I don't think it was that car the first time I played through there.
But hey.. I could be wrong. But I do know that the movie marquees are changed.

It was pretty noticeable in Crackdown as well with the Dodge ads everywhere too.

As long as it's not thrown in my face that this game is brought to you by ______, I don't care. I'm sure theres many more that I've only subconsciously noticed anyways.

It started with movies, now it is in games. Man I miss the old days of no advertising before my movie. Anyways its a lie that they will pass the saving's on to us, they don't care more money for them. Im just waiting for the day when you have to sit through ads just to log on to the internet.... and yes it will happen.

i will never buy a game with in game advertisements, ever. add RS: V to that list. The day in-game ads are widespread is the day I stop playing video games.

I don't think in-game or in-movie ads are really that big a deal. It makes it feel more real when you see a Coke billboard or Nike shoes as opposed to not seeing any identifiable brands on anything.
