Don't get me wrong, I love Halo 3 and Gears online, but there is something about a squad based military shooter that makes me shoot in my pants.

Homosexual? Perhaps, but I daresay some others on this board share my enthusiasm, and I would like to extend an offer to get semi-organized prior to launch and form an official xba "squad" for the online portion of the game.

I have no idea how they are integrating clans into the mp, but regardless, this should be a decent start.

If you are down, and are semi-serious about these types of games, then sign up... if not, then make fun of how absolutely absurd you think this idea is.

i loved the beta, reserved my copy when i picked up halo. i stoped playing and didnt realize they updated the levels from 16 to 25 and missed out cause i was playing halo and that pissed me off. Anyways if i can get enough cash to buy a router and a copy of this game id love to join the clan. But the only time ive been online latly is when i go over my buddies house and borrow their internet. last time i was online i thin i was playingnsome H3 with variation.

Me and Whisper will be on on launch day playing. I will work my way through campaign as fast as possible, and jump online as soon as I am done (unless there is an online coop function), just add everyone to your friends list and when you see them on team up and play. That should be good enough for practice.

I am kicking ass with the m21 sniper rifle. This is definitely my preferred weapon on Live. I can take people out at a distance in one, maybe two shots, and if they get close, it's semiauto and i can take them out close. The only other weapon I really want, is the m14, which is actually the same rifle, minus the scope, and maybe a bigger magazine.

Incidentally, I will be selling my old rifle and buying a Springfield m1a SOCOM 16, which is a shortened, modern version of the m14, with a picattany system so I can slap a scope on it.

So if Bungie didn't make Halo 3, EA did, and they took out all the guns and all you did was hit people with skulls, it wouldn't be a downgrade, because the original company didn't make it?

It's a downgrade. Playing with friends, to not being able to play with friends. The biggest possible downgrade any game can possibly make, ever.

Or maybe I'm the only gamer that isn't a loner and has friends. Obviously that's not true, but you get my point.. the ONLY time I play Xbox is with my friends, which is why I'm never on with XBA guys like Halo 2 and Rainbow back in the days.. I don't have the time to play by myself anymore.

I prefer the hardcore mode, simply because I prefer people to die when I shoot them.

Also, I tend to use silencers and single shot, which wouldn't do much good in the regular gametypes.

Ya THC ftw; had a blast going back to ground war last night though. I noticed my kills increased a lot in that mode when I started using stopping power. UAV Jammer FTL.

IMHO UAV Jammer FTW.. great to have when that radar goes up on their side.. They usually hunt you down at that point or at least know where you are.. Oh and that one map with the street and the bus. I sat and killed 15 people with my rifle the other day... My sniper skills are getting better.. I hope to get them perfected soon so I will never be seen.

UAV jammer is cool, and when you have it you actually prefer for their radar to be up. But when I switched it to stopping power I noticed how much easier it was for me to kill people. You just have to be more aware of your surroundings.

Obviously in THC you don't need stopping power as much.

Yeah I shot variation in the arse a few times for fun.. Was nice to kill someone then they go into last stand mode and an enemy kills them to save me my exp lol. I did get bored after a bit and resumed shooting the enemy

From what i've played headquarters seems to be the quickest way to get points. Particularly if your team is winning. rack 'em up.

If you're getting your ass kicked though it can be the most frustrating.

Every time I play HQ, my team is full of brain-dead retards who do nothing but crouch walk right next to each other the whole time and get taken out about 50 times a round.

Besides, I will take realistic bullet damage over points any day of the week; nothing like playing against guys in prestige who are just as good as they were when they first started. :cheers:

I've been playing online to get used to things. Don't know the maps well, but I got the idea.. the usual stuff. Stay low, stay out of the central areas, get cover, those seem to work out well.
I'm a Corporal II right now, got my first M16 challenge out of the way.
I have some general idea of how this game goes now.

Good game, really fun and chaotic. But in general terms, its another FPS, so the rules still apply. Duck, run, shoot, reload, be smart and so forth.

So the new update came out. Me and my buddy fell ass backwards into what I guess you'd call a glitch. So that you can bring parties larger than 1 into mercenary team deathmatch. You can probably invite people to the game, but when you go in as a party you'll always be on the same team. I won't go into details, but it's easy enough.

We were laughing our asses off though. Less than an hour after the update came out we already glitched it. We switched our clan tags to the same name just for kicks. A couple people dropped right before the game started. It was fun.

Variation and I teamed up on some Hardcore Deathmatches. I think we did pretty well. Yeah, I accidentally shot him once because he stood up while I was shooting over him, but for a good while, we rocked the house.

I have to say.. Hardcore mode is a lot better and slightly more realistic. I even found a new appreciation of the G3 rifle in hard core mode with stopping power and bandoleer as perks.

Needless to say, I had a blast. At first I discovered my mic was dead, but I dug up my Plantronics mic and I was communicating once more.

OK, so nobody was on late last night.. fine.
Let me tell you this though, I can't go back to playing regular groundwar or team death match after playing hardcore death match. I tried to switch back so I could get some "operations" points and it just pissed me off with just how many bullets I would have to shoot to drop somebody, even though they where in my sights. Felt like I was playing Halo or something.

So, I went back to Hardcore death matches. I also find it funny that the one rifle I hated, the G3, I absolutely adore for hard core matches. Except I am alternating with the SAW-249 so I can build up more LMG challenge stats. That's the one LMG I've neglected the most. But I just love the control and feel of the G3 with a red dot sight. I made it up to the rank of Major I, I really can't get enough of this game. Though I hate the Overgrown map.

Yeah, I can't wait to get those. As of right now, the G3 feels so gratifying to drop somebody with. Especially from mid to long range. One shot, down they go. You know those moments, where you're not even sure if thats a head or part of the scenery you're shooting at, but one bullet and you get +10 points, and somebody's dead.
Until the M14 or P90 comes along, the G3 is definitely a rocking gun. Except for non hard core matches, then it's back to the M-16 or the M60.
