So I have one of the launch consoles and I contacted microsoft about it. As of now I am awaiting my postage paid shipping container. So, my question is who here can tell me exactly how long this whole process takes. My hubby is going nuts without his Halo 3.

The process seems to vary dependant upon who you got on the line when calling about the repair. The averahe seems to be anywhere from 2-4 weeks, most being on the lesser side of that number. It only took about a week and a half for mine.

First of all let me start off by saying sorry to hear that. second you should have it back with in 4 weeks like crazy said. I for one had about three xbox die on me. I have about two xbox now and one going to get fix. If you ask me would I sell an xbox 360 that I have the answer is no because I need them for back up. I hate and I do mean hate not having an xbox to play.

Sorry to hear.

My launch 360 died last year, and it only took a week for the whole process. It died, I called and the next day a box was driven to my house. After that it was taken to Ontario and I got a new xbox, well I'm sure it wasn't new it was just refurbished, within the same week.

That's insane...I thought we were doomed if we had to send ours out. Being in Canada and all we generally don't get the same support for such items that Americans do.

Took me 6 weeks to get mine back, i mean i live in canada so that might be different, however mine was just a bad case i think, it was just my harddrive.

Hope you get it back soon, i feel your pain.:hail:

In my area I hear about 3 weeks or so, but like SpunkDonkey, I'm in Canada, so it's a completely different process

Towel fix it. With any luck you can get a little more life out of it until your box arrives.

Doesn't purposely overheating it void your warranty?

Hate to tell you but towel fix does work, as my 360 has been up and running for 3 weeks now since it bricked. And waste of money? What, money for a towel? I would hope you already owned at least one of those....

And Ain, not to be the devil's advocate, but you don't have to open your system to do the towel trick so there is no evidence of tampering. For all they know MS installed faulty fans into your system causing the overheat.

Sorry Rhiannon that this happened. On the bright side you will get a 360 with better cooling and you probably won't have to go though this again.

I feel sorry that it happened to you too, Rhiannon. I went to download the Devil May Cry demo today, but instead was greeted with the red ring of death so now I'm awaiting the shipping box.
