Which musician game should I get first Rock Band or Guitar Hero 3?

i would probably get guitar hero 3 first cause it cheaper and doesnt come with alot of stuff and the guitar is wireless and once u get guitar hero u can then get rockband and use the guitar hero guitar to play bass or guitar

I guess it mostly depends on your wallet and gaming area. The price tag is hefty of Rock Band, but well worth it as the instruments are in no way "cheap" pieces of plastic as the GH guitars are. So quality is a big factor that Rock Band wins out.

Secondly, you need to have storage space for the drum set unless you have a designated gaming area where it will remain set up. The guitar is a little larger than the GH guitar, heavier, but easily stored.

Another, reason to get Rock Band. There is a lot more depth in the career modes. You complete the voice, drums, guitar and bass at all 4 difficulty levels. You also have online play, as well as creating your own band in house with 3 others. Downloadable content is also cheaper than GH and much more abundant.

So for me, it would be Rock Band hands down. But again I guess it all depends on preference and what you are willing to spend.

GH 3 song pack = 500 points
RB 3 song pack = 440 points

But the great thing about RB is if they have a 3 song pack, you can choose to download the pack at 440 points OR choose to download just one song out of the pack at 160 points.

And yes.. RB has a ton more songs you can download. There is another 12 songs coming out in march (3 songs each Tuesday, including FUEL by Metallica).


I would choose Rock Band. I haven't played GH3 since I got Rock Band. It's just so cool being able to play Guitar, Drums, and Sing (and bass when you are playing multiplayer). And being able to create your own guy. And being able to choose to download another 45 or more songs. I have a total of 81 songs I can play now. 45 Licensed Originals 13 Bonus and 23 Downloaded Songs.

I think both games have their share of crappy songs. And some of those songs are in BOTH games.

Rock Band is really fun having 4 friends playing together.

I say Rock Band... and in April you can just buy a 2nd RB guitar (well in april according to ebgames.com)

Although with that said I still think Guitar hero 1 > Guitar hero 2 > Guitar hero 3 (though unfortunately only 2 and 3 are available on the 360)

I would go with GH3 for the time being, if you don't want to be spending a whole load of money for the Rock Band Kit, with the many downloadable packs. To me I had more fun with GH3 than Rock Band but I would probably say different if I played more of Rock Band, hah. But if you are on a tight budget, GH3 is definitely the way to go.

Guitar Hero 3 if you play by yourself mostly and don't have a lot of bucks to spend.

Rock Band if you have people that play with you a lot and you have the bucks to spend.

Rock band you get the best of both worlds and if you have friends over 4 players are better than 2 (depending on the size of the tv lol)

Guitar Hero 3 is an awesome game. I will not lie. It is an awesome game. But I've had both. And I traded Guitar Hero 3 for Rock Band. I love having Rock Band. I'll eventually get Guitar Hero 3 again, but I love Rock Band lmao.
