PMS Kitty, Peench, DirtyDiva and MPDamon:

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/SpaceGhost2K/deadliestcatch4.jpg

They had a contest for racing a skiff through some buoys and gave away a thousand, one-dollar bills. This is one of the brothers from the show:

My roommate, Knuckles Dawson, won it. :)

These guys are from the show Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel. They have a game coming out next month and we got to play it tonight. Tonight was the first show of their new season and they spent it with all of us. We got to go on the boat, as you see above. They all signed a game cover for us and we'll get a copy of the game when it comes out in May. It was hella fun.

GOD, I'm tired.

I might as well just keep this the MVP Summit thread. Sadly, I won't be able to talk AT ALL about most of the stuff we saw, and I didn't get ANY plates signed, but that's okay and I'll tell you later why. :)

So today, we met e and Major Nelson and Trixie and Aaron Greenberg and Jeff Bell (look 'em up if you have to.) We learned that if you're playing a game online and someone is an ass, ALL of you don't need to file a complaint. They get one name and one complaint, even if 30 people complain about the same guy in the same 24 hr period. So if one guy said "I got it," let him/her file a complaint and it's just like all of you did it, except only one person is out the time. And if you complain multiple times about a number of people and they end up being non-offenses (like filing a complaint about someone's gamertag because "bluepony" offends you), they will stop looking into your complaints. So don't do it unless it's real.

OK, so we met all these people, left to go back to the hotel and got stuck in traffic. We got the the hotel and had time to drop our crap off and get back on the bus. No time to freshen up or change clothes or anything. We ended up not getting to the event until 8 when it started at 7.

My roommate, Knuckles Dawson, and I ran straight to the Rock Band room. We grabbed fellow MVP's Litheon and Mordeux. KD did guitar, Lith did bass, Mordeux did drums and I sang. We did "Here It Goes Again" by OKGO, with all of us on "hard" level, and we stored 350,000 points. The rest of the night nobody even came close (nobody else broke 300K). Anyway, we won first prize and we all got these gift baskets witht he Rolling Stones GH CD and other RS swag like a throw blanket, t-shirt, and mug. I got a pic but I'm too tired to post it tonight.

We got the goodies and went back to the Rock Band room where people were still playing. We got back in line but Litheon took off. We grabbed PMS Kitty (I wish, but anyway) and she took over bass. We took one of the longest and hardest songs on the set list - Boston's "Foreplay/Long Time" and did it with everybody on hard. No one had still topped 300K and our original group of four had 350K. Everybody cheered when we picked the ballsy song. I was going to do normal for the vocals but everybody else did hard and I didn't want to be a pu ss eh. :) So I changed it to hard right before KD started the song and everybody cheered again.

I failed my vocal part twice, both in parts where the guy sings SUPER high, so I wasn't surprised, but they saved me both times. In the end, we ended up with over 500,000 points and an award and a huge room full of cheers. It pretty much cemented that we deserved the prize. Kitty and her group got second and got lunchboxes and mugs with like Zeppelin and Hendrix CDs. Our combined "supergroup" was just so freakin' fun it was unbelievable.

I found out that upstairs, they'd had a real band that you could sing karaoke to, and I was sad taht I missed that, but I think they had a huge line and probably wouldn't have been able to sing anyway.

Never saw my Japanese friend again, but I asked a couple of Japanese girls who said that she was indeed there somewhere. We took a bus back to the hotel, and everybody went to Kitty's room. By everybody, I mean like 20 of us in her room. I had a Kaluah on the rocks at the party and a Mike's hard lemonade inher hotel room with everybody. PLayed poker and was kicking butt, but everybody got distracted by other stuff (mostly alcohol-related stuff and seeing what everyone had on their cameras). I thanked Kitty for being a wonderful hostess with a gentlemanly kiss on the cheek, and I went back to the hotel where I wrote all this. The end.

OK, almost the end. I'm SO tired... Anyway, we all got two hoodies. We got a gray one with a zipper and our gamertag on the front, and a black one that is a pullover that has our gamertags embroidered on one sleeve. We had tp speak as a group at one point and my group was picked as the winner (I came up with a lot of the points of the discussion but we chose Kitty to present). We all got license plate frames that say "Xbox LIVE" on top and "What's Your Gamerscore" on the bottom. Probably give that one to.... hmm... the mother of my kids... so it's on the pickup the kids boogie around in. I got money to spend in the online company store and I bought some extra battery packs and a couple of CD Soundtracks (Halo 3 and Mass Effect) and then they gave me two more Halo 3 CDs this afternoon. I'll give them away on here. I also bought twenty five pens with real money at the actual MS store and I'll give those away too. I got my mom some similar pens about five years ago when I was the rep and they've been her favorite pens ever. These are even better, so I'll spread a few of them around.

THAT IS IT FOR TONIGHT. Lots of people got pics of the Rock Band thing so I should have pics and maybe even a video to show y'all tomorrow.

Sorry about the multiple posts. The connectionhere is a glitchy mess and seems to be worse on XBA. I am officially wiped out. It's taking forever to delete the duplicates and clean it up so I"ll do it sometime Thursday.

Looks like you had a good time. It's nice to know that the bigwigs at MS look out for you every now and again. I'd sprinkle a little player hating in there but you really baby this part of the site and I can appriciate that.

Pretty cool, but I still don't undestand this whole MVp thing. Also, is the PMS clan sponsered by MS of something like the Frag Dolls are with Ubisoft? All this insider stuff is a little shady.

Think of it like this.

Let's say you owned a hair salon and you had this customer who really liked the way you did things there. They told their friends, they were a frequent customer, and maybe even if people asked them questions about what services you provided, they could tell them. Wouldn't you want to thank that customer?

Maybe you'd give that customer something. Maybe you'd ask that customer's advice about making your shop even better. You would consider every customer to be special, but that one customer is EXTRA special. She's an asset to your business beyond just being a regular customer and providing a certain amount of cash flow to your store.

That is all the MVP's are. Doesn't matter if they're Xbox MVP's or Windows Media Player MVP's or SharePoint MVP's. They're customers who were more valuable to Microsoft than just being paying customers. So Microsoft puts them up for a few days, feeds them, shows them the campus, asks them questions, offers them a chance to provide feedback, and maybe provides a glimpse into things they wouldn't normally see or hear about. I'm not trying to do things to "pay back" what they've given me. I did that already, last year, BEFORE they gave me the award. That's why I GOT the award. I did that stuff already. I'm doing what I'm doing now because it's what I've always tried to do. Bring something valuable to the table. Insight, imagination, creativity, fun... whatever. I'm a passionate follower who has a positive affect on others and they recognize that. MS has been doing this for 15 years, LONG before there was an Xbox program.

---

Let me answer your question about the PMS clan in another thread. It's something that I intended on doing, but in a larger manner than a one-post response. This is important to me, so give me a bit to get something posted, and hopefully it will answerall your questions, and clear up any misconceptions you might have about the whole Microsoft/GamerchiX/PMS thing.

The Xbox belongs to one of the MVP leads and there were a number of guitars strewn about. No idea beyond that, sorry. I was on vocal destruction detail. We had a memcard with My Sharona on it but couldn't get LIVE access so it would work. They really need to fix that DRM stuff.

Like Ed said, it was a lot of fun, but a lot of work for me. I took over 1000 photos on this trip, trying to make everyone a "star" I really enjoyed the comraderie of the whole event and even though I was was somewhat of an outsider looking in, it was a really great time. Here's a link to my Flickr set, too many to post here, 237 pics.

Wiseguy! Man, I'm too tired to look at them tonight. I just got back from my SECOND trip to LA in four days, and that's AFTER a week in Seattle. I'll take a look at all of them tomorrow because I know they'll be the best ones taken by ANYBODY at the event.
