Microsoft Officially Announce the Red Xbox 360

To celebrate the impending release of Resident Evil 5, Microsoft today officially announced their much rumoured red Xbox 360.

The limited edition console will be available at the same time that Resident Evil 5 releases, March 13th and will be available from select retailers.

The package will be of greater value than the Elite package with a copy of Resident Evil 5 thrown in for good measure. The red console will come with a matching red controller, black headset and 120 GB hard drive and as a special treat, Capcom are also throwing in a bonus code for their recent XBLA HD Street Fighter title.

I voted "other" because I don't like the orange on the halo green 360s. I wish they would bring back the clear green they had on the original xbox's, those were sick! Hey skilled, that candy apple red looks awesome. The glossy appearance is nice, but since you aren't gonna get that from the factory, I personally would stick to white or black.

Who knows yet if this is the new Jasper chipset or not. Jaspers have been reported as being out there on the market but so far only arcade consoles have been seen w/ the new Jasper chipset (makes sense since the arcade unit is the most popular 360). Whats to stop someone from buyin an arcade unit, painting it red like whats happened here, and then just adding a 120GB hdd? I don't know but I wish MS did something more for this, than just a "red" 360.

That's why MS should make detachable case plates for their next console that won't break warranty!
